[Review] Cerave PM facial moisturizing lotion broke the fuck out of my skin

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin has literally never been this bad. I have 5 cystic pimples on my left cheek and a lot of clogged pores on my right cheek. I have noticed my skin was beginning to break out about 2 months ago so I decided to keep it simple and just stick to cleansing and moisturizing my skin thats it. I was doing this for about 4 weeks but my skin either only got worse or stayed the same. I was so confused and puzzled about what the hell could be breaking my skin out like this. I never questioned my cerave pm skin moisturizer because it was a good one and it seemed to be everyone’s HG on here. Especially with the “non comedogenic” written on the cover. My skin still remained horrible and i knew for a fact it wasn’t my cleanser because i was using the same cleanser before and it didn’t cause me any breakouts (cosrx) Then i looked up “cerave pm breakout” and i was so surprised to read so many people have had the same problem as me. Its been 4 days since i stopped using it and my skin is slightly improving. I really am so disappointed this broke me out because i am not gonna lie, it is actually a very good moisturizer. I love how lightweight it is and how it plumps up your skin. It sucks that this didn’t react well with my face at all. I dont wanna waste my two bottles and just keep them up there so I decided to use them on my hands and feet everyday and night to make something useful out of it. Has anyone else experienced the same thing??? And what are some good moisturizers that wont cause break outs and are fragrance and dye free?

I need YOUR holy grails how you faded red marks and acne scars! I heard the COSRX snail essence is pretty good for that (is it good for acne prone skin)? My skin is kinda sensitive and I get breakouts from harsh and acne causing ingredients.

[PSA] I ran out of Spearmint Tea so you don't have to... Long story short - Surprised to discover it was actually working for my acne!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My acne started in when I was 11 - the doctors put me on Minocyline for it and it cleared up a bit along with the old Acne.org BP routine, although my skin was always red and dry! Come age 15 I started wearing makeup and stopped doing my Acne.org routine so the minocycline was no longer doing it's magic, so the doctors put me on Yasmin birth control to treat my acne, aside from that my only routine was washing my face and wearing moisturiser in the AM to make my foundation go on better... yikes!. My skin was clear until age 20 when I decided to quit all medications I was on including birth control and minocycline for my own person reasons. I had a moderate acne flare up that went away within a few weeks and my skin was fine and I just had the odd breakout here and there. Two years later my acne started coming back which brings me to about halfway through last year. Keep in mind my only routine was still washing my face and putting on moisturiser under makeup. Then my acne got real bad so I started trying different things but I still knew nothing about skincare. Any old 'acne wash' and tea tree oil with no moisturiser..... D: ! I slowly got wiser and started moisturing, eye cream, and serum but was using fragranced products and so on. Eventually went on birth control but it wasn't one that did anything for acne and all birth control seems to make me an emotional wreck. Stopped that birth control as it was messing with my moods. Started Tretinoin for three months and got wise about a good routine thanks to SKA. Unfortunatley Tretinoin didn't work out for me and my acne got 10x worse for the whole three months I was using it. I know it probably would have worked out in the long run but the acne and purge begun to deeply effect me emotionally so I decided to look for a different option. I got wise and started using PH neutral or free of all the bad stuff products. My first strike of luck was the ordinary Niacinamide - I find that it helps a lot with healing scars and inflammation. I then read about Spearmint tea and started drinking three cups a day for a couple of weeks. At the same time as this I also started with Cliycinamidin. I started three things at once really and it was working but I didn't know what was doing what and if they were all necesarry - My skin started clearing rapidly, and I even had a foundation free day at work. However I ran out of spearmint tea. And my pimples have started coming back. I'm not disappointed because now I know that it was actually working and I'm happy that I might just have found a pretty simple solution for my acne,So I have concluded:Spearmint tea seems to be treating the causeClindamycin treats the problem on the surface topicallyTO Niacinamide and Zinc heals the scars and reduces the inflammationDefinitely sticking with these three and are gonna try for a home run with them! :PWould love to hear about anyone else's experiences with spearmint tea!

[review] MY ABSOLUTE HG! SEBAMED CLEAR FACE GEL

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Where do I even start? I have struggled with acne and dehydrated skin for AGES, I’m talking years! Most moisturisers would just make my face greasy or give me more acne. I found Gokujun Supreme lotion which definitely helped but not enough. My skin was still a little flaky and dry. Then I got Clear Face Gel and literally after 5 minutes of application (mixed with Squalane oil) my skin feel normal! It’s supple, pale as shit (since I am a very pale girl and for years it’s just been red) and soft. My flakiness has almost just stopped, my pores have shrunk significantly! I am in absolute awe!

[Personal] The Best Compliment

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I posted a B&A pic here, like, 3 weeks ago, after suffering acne for almost 5 years. I went back to my dermatologist of 13 months recently and she said that my skin looked really good and that it looked glass-y. It was the best compliment I have ever received in my life. She also said that my face looked a little red because I am lighter than the average Filipino male, therefore, the things that are happening under my skin is sort of visible on the surface. To everyone here who still suffers acne: one day, your acne will be nothing but history. Acne was one of my biggest insecurities in my life, and never have I thought about getting a compliment on my skin, let alone a compliment from my dermatologist. I know everyone in this sub will reach that level too!

[Routine Help] Severely dehydrated, oily skin with fine lines.. EVERYTHING breaks me out :( please help me find some relief?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin is sooo oily in the t zone. The sides of my nose, sides of my mouth and chin are covered in fine lines some deeper than others and I’m only 24... the outer portion of my face is flaking and my nose and chin covered in blackheads too. I was previously using cerave hydrating cleanser and moisturizer. For a few months but realized it was the culprit for my acne. I quit it a little while ago and switched to Marcelle gel cleanser and Nivea matte cream. Works wonderful doesn’t break me out or cause bumps and my skin looks nice and clear. HOWEVER it has gotten tons of fine lines again. So basically I can’t use anything moisturizing or I break out. And when I use products for oily skin I get dry and lines. I look SO old it’s embarrassing. Makeup looks awful on me so I’ve been avoiding it. I researched online and found that Hyaluronic Acid serums are great for dehydration so I added one in and what do you know, woke up to cheeks full of pimples.

[Misc] What's something popular in the skincare community that bothers you?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
There are SO many things that I can't stand but I'll only mention two for now:If you can't eat it don't put in on your skin. or If you can't pronounce it, don't put in on your skin. There so many important ingredients in skincare that a lot of people have a hard time pronouncing and/or would be toxic if someone tried to eat them. Does that mean they're bad? NO! When I see popular bloggers giving this advice to their naive readers it literally boils my blood.Youtubers making DIY videos.I've seen so many youtube videos with over 500k views where the person teaching their viewers doesn't know shit about skincare and DIY safety. For example, most of them don't use preservatives and tell their viewers that whatever they made it's safe for a week or two if kept in the fridge - this is totally false. A week or two is a crazy amount of time. Whatever they made will be a bacteria fest in less than a day especially if it contains fresh ingredients, clay etc.

[Misc] The BHA wiki is live! Share your feedback, questions, and experiences

Beauty Tips For Body Care
The BHA wiki is up, replacing the old chemical exfoliants wiki. It’s about time AHAs & BHAs got their own separate pages :)This is part of the big sidebar update - each week a new wiki page will go live and we’ll have a discussion post like this one to go over the research, talk about the ingredient, and give feedback on the wiki page! Click here if you want to check out the post schedule. Some general advice: don't go on a random shopping spree and burn your face off, you might already have a good routine going that just needs more time! Do introduce products 2 weeks apart and patch test before you use it on your whole face.Keep in mind that there are no magic ingredients - BHAs are awesome, but your overall routine is most important. Remember: ymmv! We've also added a brand new wiki page for pH dependence! This way we can get into pH a bit more without taking up a huge portion of the individual ingredient wikis :) BHAs - click here!BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) are great chemical exfoliants that can address a wide range of skin concerns. BHAs ‘degunk’ the stuff in pores, which - even though it sounds pretty gross - can be helpful for your skin! But be sure to go slow - BHAs can be drying! EffectsTreats acne 1-4Can help control oil, which means it’s a good choice for oily skin! 5However, that doesn’t mean that people with dry skin can’t use BHAs - just that they should be extra prepared before using one!Can help treat blackheads and sebaceous filaments How to useStart slow! Since BHAs can be drying, it’s important to introduce them carefully into your routine. Avoid using BHAs in a routine with too many other potentially irritating ingredients (benzoyl peroxide, AHAs, retinoids, etc.) and above all, listen to your skin!Start by using the product twice a week, then slowly increase the frequency based on how your skin feels. If you experience irritation, cut down on how often you use it. You may end up using your BHA only once or twice a week, and that’s totally okay!Since BHAs are actives, it’s helpful to give them some time to absorb before applying your next product (i.e. serum, moisturizer, etc.) How to reduce irritationBHAs can be pretty drying! Some ways to combat dryness and irritation include:have a solid basic routine in place before using BHAs (check out the ScA routine for an example!) This should include moisturizing twice a day!use additional moisturizing products, like hydrating toners, oils, and vaselineuse BHAs at a frequency that works for youif you experience irritation or stinging (or if other products start stinging that shouldn’t, like your moisturizer!), you should cut back on how often you use your BHAdon't use too many other actives while using BHAs‘too many’ is entirely dependent on your skin and the products you use, but it’s good to be extra careful when using multiple actives! Try to break them up as much as possible (i.e. AM/PM, alternating days, etc.)if you have sensitive skin, you may prefer BHAs that use betaine salicylate (rather than the more common salicylic acid) as they may be less irritating Routine orderWhen you use your BHA is dependent on the product. BHAs tend to come early on in your routine - after cleansing, before your moisturizer (unless the BHA is in your moisturizer, of course!)Since BHAs are actives that are usually formulated at a low pH, you may want to wait a few minutes before applying your next product (i.e. serum, moisturizer, etc.) This gives them some time to work at their optimal pH, and gives them some time to absorb! For more details on when to use BHAs, check out the Routine Order wiki. A note on pHWhile the pH of a product isn’t something the average consumer needs to worry about (most products are formulated so that they work!), it’s worth noting that BHAs are pH dependent - meaning that they work best in a specific pH range. This means that you may want to give your BHA some time to absorb before moving on to your next product, and (if consistency allows!) you may want to try to use it early on in your routine. For more information on how pH plays a role for BHAs, check out the pH dependence wiki! Product recommendationsSee our Holy Grail BHA recommendations:Holy Grail BHA Post 2018Holy Grail Chemical Exfoliants Post 2017Holy Grail Chemical Exfoliants Post 2016 GuideAcontains short-chain alcohol (drying alcohol)EOcontains essential oilsFcontains (synthetic) fragrance CosRx BHA Liquid (4% betaine salicylate)Paula's Choice BHAs (1%, 2%, 4%, and 9% SA)ZAPZYT Acne Wash (2% SA)Stridex Maximum Strength Pads aka 'Stridex in the Red Box' (2% SA) (F)Garden of Wisdom 2% Salicylic Acid Serum and Toner (2% SA)Silk Naturals BHA Toner (2% SA)The Ordinary 2% Salicylic Acid (2% SA)Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Stress Control Ultra-Light Spot Treatment Moisturiser (2% SA) (F)Bravura London 2% Salicylic Acid Peel (2% SA)MUAC 8% Salicylic Acid Serum (8% SA) (A) (for weekly use) Information on chemical peelsChemical peels are for experienced users only. Do not use a chemical peel unless you have extensive experience with lower percentage chemical exfoliants.Note: some companies call low percentage daily exfoliants 'peels' - don't worry about those! We are talking about products from about 15% and up, with a very low pH ~2, that are intended to be rinsed off after a few minutes.Chemical peels have a higher concentration of the active ingredient(s) along with a lower pH, making them much, much stronger than daily leave-on products. This comes with a risk of unintended side effects such as excessive irritation, peeling, burning, redness, dryness, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. Proceed with caution. For more information, check out our chemical peel wiki. ResourcesIngredient Spotlight: Hydroxy Acids - The Acid QueenAHAs vs BHAs - Lab MuffinRecognizing and treating overexfoliation - Fifty Shades of SnailEvaluating your routine: hydroxy acids by u/JoanofSarcasmEuropean AHA and BHA compilation by u/sarasa3Why does pH matter for AHAs & BHAs? & Free acid value calculator - Lab Muffin Contributorsu/-punctum-u/sharknado1234We're very thankful for their help in the BHA Research Thread!! Sources Our discussion questions:Did you learn anything new about BHAs?What are your own experiences with this ingredient? How does the wiki page look? I found this article today arguing against using facial oils and balms, I'm sceptical, but curious to hear others thoughts? [Research]

Beauty Tips For Body Care

I consider myself very invested in skincare, yet this is the first time I've heard such claims. The sceptic in me realises the author has her on line of skincare and articles like this make her range seem superior, but still there does seem like some interesting science backing it up.She made a followup to her original article here, http://www.educatedtherapists.com/oils-balms-rebuttal-1-still-not-great-skin-used-straight-skin/It is not my intention to put anyone off using their favourite oils! New HG! Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer [Review] + [PSA] Available for $13 less at Costco

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I received a sample of the Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer in one of my Sephora Play! Boxes over the summer. I’ve since canceled the subscription and have been making my way through a backlog of samples and started using this moisturizer about two weeks ago. It is amazing!! And has quickly become a staple of my evening routine. I hadn’t heard of it or seen it anywhere, so I thought I’d share my experience. After using it for a week, I knew I wanted the full size, which doesn’t happen very often when I’m going through samples. Sephora has been sold out on their site and they have it listed for $38. Just found it on Costco.com for $13 less than Sephora at $24.99 with free shipping if you’re a member.Review As an oily, sensitive skinned person who has a hard time finding moisturizers that don’t break me out, this one packs a powerful punch. It keeps my skin so moisturized and looks like I had a full 10-hours of sleep when I’ve probably only had about 5. I have a lot of redness in my face as well, around my nose and chin, and I’ve noticed it’s calmed down significantly since I started using this. The only thing I will caution is that it’s easy to put on too much. If you use just the right amount (about the size of a pea), it sinks nicely into your skin. Any more than that and the excess “sits” on top of your skin. It sort of acts as an occlusive this way, however, creating a protective film over your skin, even though I don’t think it’s meant to use this way.I find it a little too heavy to wear during the day under makeup, but since it’s been doing such a good job at night, I find myself using a lighter hand with my foundation.TLDR, It’s super moisturizing, not greasy, sinks in nicely when the right amount is used, and has done great things for my complexion overall.

[Review] I tried 14 cleansers so you don't have to, or 'Cleansers; A History'

Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's the review no-one asked for: every cleanser I've ever used! My 15 year hunt for a perfect cleansing step condensed into a couple of hundred words, only a few of them sweary. For reference my skin is pale and freckled, oily/combination and dehydration prone. My main concerns over the years have been cystic/hormonal acne, oil control, sebaceous filaments and lare pores. I'm based in the UK but a lot of these products are available in other countries too.Clearasil 5-in1 Pads - £6.35Although a few years later these were a great introduction to BHAs (minus the alcohol), these are absolutely *not* a cleanser. I used to scrub at my face with these, not moisturise, and wonder why my skin was oily and sore all the time. They did help my acne to some extent but worsened my scarring as my skin was so flaky and dry. 2/10 as a cleanser, 5/10 as an introductory BHASoap and Glory No Clogs Allowed Detox Mask - £10...So I made a habit of trying to cleanse my face with products seriously not meant for cleansing with! Again this was drying, abrasive and had a harsh minty scent. It made my sebaceous filaments disappear for about an hour until they refilled with the oil my skin was furiously producing in order to counteract - you guessed it - not moisturising. 2/10Soap and Glory Ultimelt - £10This was when I discovered hot cloth cleansing and finally backed away from harsher products. Thank fuck. Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish was all the rage in the UK so I gave this cheaper alternative a go, and my life was changed. It contains essential oils however I'm not sensitive to these at all and it added to the spa like experience of not treating my skin like utter shit. I found using a muslin or flannel every day too harsh on my skin eventually, and it left a slight film on my face even after a second cleanse. 6/10Soap and Glory Face Soap and Clarity - £8Ah, my first ever second cleanse. Fragranced as fuck, stripping, and contained microbeads (though I think it has been reformulated without). Considering how badly I used to abuse my skin, this is the tightest and most uncomfortable I have ever felt after cleansing. I started to moisturise around this point so kept going with this cleanser, however I don't think I ever finished the bottle. 3/10Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil - £7This will probably get me a lifetime ban from SCA, but my skin *loves* coconut oil. I used the OCM and gave myself gorgeous facial massages often, and I felt like my skin was finally getting the moisture it needed. It's mega cheap too! However, as above my skin just couldn't cope with a flannel every day, and started getting shiny and sore. I still use this once in a while when I want to massage my face. 8/10Superdrug Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser & Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser - £5.99/£4.99I used (and still use) these two interchangeably as they are very similar, with identical results. These were hyped as dupes for for Liz Earle C&P, and I found them to glide on beautifully and feel really luxurious on my skin for the price. Superdrug's own brand skincare is regularly on offer so I waited for deals and usually paid no more than half price, making it excellent value. Loads of UK beauty gurus started talking about these at the same time so I had issues repurchasing at times, but the buzz appears to have calmed down so I have less of a hard time getting hold of them. I still use one or the other of these fairly regularly, usually when I'm having a pampering day. 8/10 RPSuperdrug Vitamin E Dual Phase Cleansing Oil - £2.99I still get angry thinking about this product. It smells like an entire ass, does not cleanse in the slightest, and leaves the dirtiest, greasiest residue after use. I sometimes dream of buying a case of these just to pour them down the sink so that fewer of them exist in the world. 0/10Botanics Rosehip Hot Cloth Cleanser - £8.99This cleansing balm comes in a tiny size compared to my Superdrug favourites above, and is harder to spread around the face. Even though I kept it out of the bathroom and it showed no other evidence of having melted and re-set it took on a gritty/grainy texture once open for a couple of weeks. It takes a lot of rubbing with a flannel to remove as I found a muslin wasn't abrasive enough. The smell, due to the inclusion of essential oils, is divine. 4/10Botanics Rosehip Softening Cleanser - £5.99The same gorgeous scent as the above product, in an easy-to-spread, easy-to-rinse formula. The packaging suggests 'wiping off with tissues' but this seems wasteful as well as gross so I just rinse with a little warm water. This isn't much good for makeup removal and doesn't seem to work well as a second cleanse, but it makes my skin soft and bouncy so I had to find somewhere to include it in my routine. I use this as a morning cleanse just to remove any sweat or remaining occlusives, and it sets up my skin beautifully for the day. 8/10 HGCosrx Low PH Good Morning Cleanser - £9.50This is a really popular product on here so I was ready to fall in love. I got a few small sachets of this as part of Cosrx's 3 step kits and I'm *really* glad I didn't spring for a whole tube of this before trying it. I found the smell so overpowering it hurt my nose, and it stripped my skin almost as much as my first attempts at cleansing. Like, it was so drying my skin felt like a rubber mask after using it. I used this about 4 times before admitting it was absolutely not for me, despite its cult status. 2/10Superdrug Naturally Radiant Complete Cleanser - £5.99My go-to second cleanse. I only use half a pump as that is plenty to remove any trace of my cleansing balm, so a 150ml container lasts forever. The foaming pump makes it feel creamy, thick and luxurious, and it smells beautiful. As with the other Superdrug items this is on offer more often than not so I never pay full price. 9/10 HGHeimish All Clean Balm - £14This product is beautiful. It removes make up without any harsh rubbing, glides across my skin with no effort, and has a delicate scent. A jar lasts me about six months of daily use and I am *very* liberal with application, so it would probably last others even longer. It makes cleansing feel like a treat rather than a chore and leaves my skin clean but not stripped. My only criticism is that it leaves my eyes slightly blurry even after rinsing, though it does not sting them at all. 9/10 HGBotanics Hydration Burst Dual Action Cleanser £6.99This cleanser leaves my skin feeling fresh and hydrated, but the formula is terrible. It feels like a gel when first applying but is very thick and sticky, making it almost impossible to spread over my face without using twice as much as I would like to. More than once I have irritated my skin by dragging it over my face, and even warming it between my hands has no effect on the thickness. I wish I could love this as it has some great ingredients and emulsifies into a lovely hydrating milk, but I'm not about giving myself wrinkles trying to get it across my face. 5/10What I've learned while devoting my life to cleansers:- My skin *hates* SLS. When I stopped using anything with sulphates I noticed my acne formed only around my mouth and on my chin, and reduced massively when I started using an SLS free toothpaste.- My skin is pretty tough when it comes to fragrances and essential oils, but has a no tolerance policy for anything too stripping or drying. I used to love the squeaky clean tight skinned feeling, and now I'd rather not wash my face at all than feel dried out.- I want cleansing to be a pleasure. I want to feel like I'm having a facial at a spa. Utilitarian cleansers are probably cheaper and more convenient, but I love the feeling of washing the day (or night) away and starting over with a clean face.- Washing my face with just water doesn't work. I wish I could be one of those 'splash with water then apply SPF' kind of people, but my skin clogs at the drop of a hat and never looks or feels clean with just water, whether it's the morning or at night. I'd rather use a small amount of cleanser and preemptively fight dehydration than deal with dull, dirty skin.

[Routine Help] Can I use niacinamide and azelaic acid at the same time?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have been using the Ordinary's Niacinamide for probably about six months now and I just recently bought their Azelaic Acid to try to calm redness/ possible rosacea on my lower cheeks. I switched out the niacinamide in favor of the azelaic acid and I've noticed I've been breaking out and I'm thinking it's due to taking the niacinamide out of my routine. I'm wondering if I could/ should be using both products at the same time.I was also wondering if anyone had any recs for redness and flushing? It's worse now that it's cold and windy and since I'm a student I have to be outside walking to and from class.

[MISC] Allergan refocuses Botox strategy on millennials

Beauty Tips For Body Care
https://www.glossy.co/new-face-of-beauty/allergan-refocuses-botox-strategy-on-millennials?Wondering what your thoughts are on this? While I think people should be able to do what they want with their own bodies, the numbers here are startling and make me more adamant in my personal beliefs about refusing injectables. I've noticed that I've become more anxious about signs of aging and reading this is a reminder that aging is natural and not something to feel badly about. I want to age gracefully and not with the pressures of beauty marketing making me feel badly about myself everyday!

[Misc] How can I help my 16 y/o younger brother with his skincare routine without embarrassing him?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My younger brother has blackheads and small acne bumps all over his face, going for about a year now and seeming to get worse. As far as I can tell, he doesn’t do anything to treat it. I think I’ve seen a generic physical exfoliater in his bathroom and that’s it. For other context: I’m 23 and have 2 older sisters. When we were growing up and struggling with acne, our parents didn’t help us at all, but we had each other and friends to learn about skincare from. Now, my little brother lives at home with just my parents and is home schooled, so not much of a support system around him. He’s very shy and awkward, and I wonder if his acne contributes to that. I want to help him out by recommending a basic skincare routine (I was thinking a cerave cleanser, stridex in the red box, and a cerave moisturizer) but I’m worried I’ll just make him feel bad or embarrass him. He would never come out and ask for help himself (he really keeps things to himself). What should I do?

[Meta] Wiki links not working for some mobile users

Beauty Tips For Body Care
There is a bug for mobile users where some wiki links don’t work. This is affecting multiple subs and we’ve notified the admins of the issue, so hopefully it’ll be fixed soon! (In the meantime, here’s a cat gif!) What is it? For some mobile users, links on wiki pages aren’t working. This seems to only be affecting links to wiki pages that are on a wiki page (yep, it’s wiki pages all the way down.) For instance - on the cleanser wiki, the link to the oil cleansing wiki may lead to a “Page not found!” error.Update: May be affecting reddit links in general on a wiki page (i.e. links to reddit posts in addition to links to wiki pages) Who does it affect? Some mobile users (especially iOS)Update: the official reddit app (iOS & android), relay, baconreader, and apollo are all having issues. Is there a workaround? Yes! You can still access wiki pages directly from the sidebar on mobile (although once you’re in a wiki page, the links will still be broken), or you could bypass the issue entirely by using the desktop site (where all wiki links work!) To access the sidebar from mobile, either:Tap ‘About’orTap the three dot dropdown menu >> tap ‘Community Info’ To access the desktop site from your mobile device:Go to reddit in your mobile browser >> tap the hamburger menu in the upper right corner >> tap ‘Desktop Site’ >> boom! You’re in. When will it be fixed? Unfortunately this isn’t something we can fix from our end, but we’ve notified the admins of the issue. Hopefully it’ll get sorted out soon! In the meantime, you should still be able to access the wiki pages using the above methods - it’s just a pain in the butt. Can I help? Yes!! If you're experiencing this, you can add your information to the bug reports - this will help devs reproduce and fix the problem. As per r/redditmobile's guide on reporting bugs, if you can add additional information you should comment on a past post:[iOS][4.25.0.305461] Wiki links are not working for numerous people (most recent)[iOS][12.1.2] Links on wiki pages lead to "Page not found!"Helpful information to include:What type of device are you using?iPhone 6, iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy Note8, Pixel XL, etc. What version of the app are you on? Note: Check to make sure you are on the most recent version of the app, there might already be a fix.Critical & Additional Information: Information you have that might help the team reproduce and understand what lead to the bug.

[Misc] Do you think part of the rise in skincare obsession has to do with social media & smartphone cameras?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
We all have our pictures taken more than ever in history. Not only are pictures taken much more frequently, but they are posted publicly almost as often, for almost anyone to see. In addition, most of these are taken candidly, with little preparation. Now, if you have "bad skin", it's more public than ever before. Not only that, but we also take pictures of ourselves, so we are much more aware of our own appearance. Do you think this phenomenon has made people more obsessed with having nice skin than in the past?Sorry I'm really high right now.

[Misc] CeraVe is officially going vegan!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Good afternoon todos,So I was scrolling down the FAQ section on the CeraVe UK website and read the following:Are CeraVe products Vegan?"Yes, the UK CeraVe range is Vegan. Our products contain no animal derived products."This left me puzzled because last time I wrote to CeraVe's US customer service and asked about whether or not their products contained animal-derived ingredients, they replied:"L’Oréal does not use any ingredient from rare or endangered animal species, nor any ingredient of porcine, bovine or ovine origin; except lanolin (which is taken from live sheep). We use derivatives of raw materials of animal origin in restricted quantities, such as honey, beeswax, lanolin, as well as fish derivatives and poultry egg derivatives. [...] The cholesterol is from sheep's wool."Confused by the discrepancy, I wrote back to them today:"Hello, it is written on your UK website: "Yes, the UK CeraVe range is Vegan. Our products contain no animal derived products." Yet, most of your products contain cholesterol, which one of your customer service agents told me comes from sheep's wool. Thus, your products DO contain animal derived ingredients. Why does it say vegan if the cholesterol you use comes from animal sources? Is the Canadian formula different from the UK formula? Does the UK formula use cholesterol from vegetal sources and not the Canadian formula?"They replied:"The formulations in the UK are different from those in North America and they all contain a newer cholesterol ingredient that is vegetal derived. Some products in Canada have the new vegetal derived cholesterol but older product formulations use an animal derived cholesterol. This particular cholesterol is derived from the grease from sheep’s wool clippings. We are currently working on updating the North American formulations for older products to contain the newer vegetal based cholesterol as well."I replied:"Wow okay, I did not know that. Does that mean that we should expect all CeraVe products sold in Canada to be entirely vegan sometime in the near future? Is that the goal?"They replied:The process can take a while, but yes, one day all products should use that new ingredient. [...] We do not have dates for that yet. This is good news and definitely clears up all the confusion about the contradicting answers CeraVe's customer service has provided over time in regard to the animal-derived ingredients in their products.Thought I would share with y'all!TL;DR: CeraVe's going vegan, but we do not know when exactly yet.

[personal] woke up for the first time in 10+ years with no new pimples

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Long time lurker, only recently started posting.I've suffered from acne since I was about 11 years old. I have crappy genes (thanks, Dad), hormonal issues, and was using all the wrong products. Recently, I took the plunge to fix up my skin care routine and I'm reaping the benefits. After a decade or more of struggling with my skin, I woke up today with no new pimples or blackheads. This is the first time since I was a little girl this has happened and I am totally not ashamed to say that I cried. Who knows if it'll stay clear, but this is such a big moment for me that I don't even care.Thank you all so much for the help you give people! It's easy to forget that acne and general skin woes can take their toll on a person's self esteem and mindset. This sub is not only informative AF about how to better your skin, but it's also a supportive community. Thank you all!

[Skin Concerns] Severely chapped lips

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello, ska! Around thanksgiving I went home to Pennsylvania. I grew up there for 18 years and live in LA afterwards (both very dry environments during certain times of the year) but I currently live in Florida. I was only home for a week, but while I was home my lips got pretty chapped. That’s not totally surprising considering that the humidity is a lot different in Florida than it is in PA around this time of the year. However, when I came back from Florida my lips were still chapped and remained chapped for about 3 weeks. At the end of December, I went home again for the holidays, and my lips became even more chapped than they were in November. They were swollen, red, itchy, burning, and peeling. I tried a lot of different treatments such as chapstick, argon oil, Cerave moisturizer, aquaphor, Mario badescu’s lip balm, Vaseline, and finally Carmex. Carmex seems to be the only thing to help my symptoms. Nothing else is working. I have no idea why. Anyway, I was home for about a week and a half and returned to Florida almost exactly a month ago. My lips are still chapped, though, which is a little concerning to me. I didn’t think I would still have this problem after being back in a humid environment for a month. I’ve been using so much Carmex that I’m almost done with a tube of it after only using it for a few weeks. It doesn’t seem like this problem is going away, either. Carmex is treating the symptoms but isn’t fixing the problem. I tried stopping Carmex in exchange for aquaphor/Mario badescu a few days ago and my symptoms returned full-force. Has anyone else had issues with recovering from severely chapped lips? Do any of you have any suggestions for how I can fix this issue rather than simply treat the symptoms?I’m a little worried that this is a sign of a larger problem, so I’ve made an appointment with my physician in the hopes that they can ease my concerns or recommend me to a dermatologist that can help me fix this issue. In the meantime, though, anyone’s insight on this problem or advice regarding how I might be able to fix it would be hugely appreciated.

[Misc] Do hydroxy acids such as AHAs and BHAs contribute to or diminish the effects of aging?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Side A: They obviously increase the rate of cellular turnover, but because cell turnover means shortening of telomeres every time, does that mean AHAs and BHAs contribute to aging faster?Side B: This study (https://www.mdpi.com/1420-3049/23/4/863/htm) states that acids “can provide long-term cosmetic benefits such as improvements in skin firmness and elasticity and the reduction of lines and wrinkles.” Also, this study (https://www.jaad.org/article/S0190-9622(96)80110-1/pdf80110-1/pdf)) indicates that, over a 6-month period, usage of AHAs have resulted in thicker skin and increased density of collagen (among other things). Or is it that these studies were funded by Big Pharma?I've searched the sub but haven't found a definitive answer, so I figured I'd ask here

I’ve recently begun to use the thermal water and the Extremely Gentle Cleanser Lotion and I love both of them. Now I’m wondering what else to add or try. I’m mainly in search of a new moisturizer, and maybe sunscreen if they have one. I currently have dry/dehydrated skin acne prone skin and I’m not sure how much the Cerave in the tub is helping.I’m in the US if that changes anything

[Misc] Question about mandelic acid

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I posted this in the daily help thread a couple days ago, but got no answer. Hoping someone can help! The side bar info about Mandelic Acid says that it’s partially oil soluble. This might be true, but I’m having a hard time finding any additional sites or research to back up this claim! The only one I’ve found is an Allure article, which isn’t incredibly convincing. Does anyone know where the claim that Mandelic Acid is partially oil soluble comes from?

Are these closed comedones, fungal acne, clogged/congested skin or something else? New to this thread and need some help! [acne]

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I have been researching and looking on this thread for months to try and figure out what these tiny bumps on my forehead would be and have come down to either closed comedones, fungal acne or congested/clogged pores or something.I feel like for the longest time I have had a textured forehead, like little tiny bumps. Sometimes the look worse and other tines they are not so bad, sometimes in different light you can see them.Could it be the products I am using, I really wouldn't know what ingredients to avoid though if it were products causing this, I never really get shampoo on my face when I wash my hair, change my pillow case every night, drink a reasonable amount of water and eat healthy most of the time and keep my hair off my face.I really want to get a smooth forehead but I am so fed up at this point trying to achieve it.Also might I add my forehead seems to get worse when its that time of the month but i think they may just be small pimples and not these tiny little bumps im talking about. My skin is oily, mostly my forehead though and by the end of the day my skin all over gets oily. Then that got me thinking is my skin dehydrated? AHHH so many questionsHere are the images of my forehead: image one Image two

[misc] Hyaluronic acid in a collagen drink?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I can't seem to find anything online about the value of drinking hyaluronic acid, and the only product I've seen with it so far is the Vital Proteins Beauty Collagen. It has the regular collagen, plus HA. I would assume that the HA would be broken down and processed by stomach acids before it had the chance to be beneficial. Does anyone know more about this? I've had great results with a topical serum (Pestle & Mortar brand), so will probably just stick with that, but am curious if anyone knows about how well HA could be absorbed orally.

[misc] Update on Drunk Elephant/Skinceuticals Lawsuit

Drunk Elephant has responded to L'Oreal (Skinceuticals) complaint, denying any infringement, arguing that the patent is invalid due to not meeting requirements of patentability, invalid due to prior art, invalid due to lack of written claim description, and indefiniteness Fairly standard language in a response. The most interesting part of Drunk Elephant's response is this:Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma Day Serum does not infringe any valid claim of the ’841 patent in any manner under 35 U.S.C. § 271, either literally or under the doctrine of equivalents. By way of example only, C-Firma Day Serum lacks at least the following elements recited in the claims of the ’841 patent: “[a] single-phase solution composition”; “10% to 60% of a solvent comprising a glycol ether and an alkanediol”; and “wherein when the cinnamic acid derivative is present at an amount greater than 0.5%, the composition further comprises a surfactant in an amount of 1.5% to 5.0%.”Disclaimer - I am not an attorney and am not involved in this case in any way. [PSA] it’s not always acne.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello fellow sca,After lurking on this sub for a while, I decided I should contribute.I had a pretty good routine a year ago and my face was finally finally clear. I was getting breakouts maybe once every month or so, and sometimes less. I was really dealing with Hyperpigmetation.Cue November of 2018, I started to get hormonal breakouts. Desperate to fix them, I scheduled a derm appointment early December.I had 2 small breakouts near my left cheek, and they weren’t really bothering me as they were small and had popped. This is where the trouble began.I don’t know how, but that small pimple near my cheek had gotten infected. I didn’t realize it at the time because it seemed like a cystic pimple. It was swollen. It was red. It was painful. And it was hard.So I left it alone because if I learned anything from this sub, cystic pimples don’t respond to anything except for TLC.The derm, thinking it was hormonal, put me on spironolactone and 40mg doxy.Fast forward to end of December, and it wasn’t getting better. The left cheek area was getting worse despite the medication. It was really swollen, painful, and the bumps were spreading out from the initial pimple.I knew something was wrong. My skin never reacts this way. And I never get cystic pimples near my cheeks. So I looked up other type of skin problems. This is where I found out I probably have Folliculitis caused by Staph.I went to urgent care and the doctor agreed with what I assumed. She put me on a week of keflex and topical antibiotics and took a culture.Long story short, it didn’t work. It cleared some of it. But I still had 1 giant spot that was painful. I went to a different derm and she said that keflex doesn’t work on MRSA.I was put on 2 weeks of 200mg of doxycycline.I am 1.5 weeks in and although it’s gotten better, it still hasn’t fully cleared. I am worried that because I was on such a low dose of doxy before, that some of the MRSA bacteria has also now become immune to doxy. My last option, if that is the case, is to use bactrim. And if bactrim doesn’t work, I don’t have another oral antibiotic to use.I will have insane scarring from this. I don’t know if it will ever fully heal. And now, I will always be a carrier of MRSA and will be at a higher risk of having recurring staph infections.Attached is a photo of how bad it got. This photo is not the infection at its worst.http://imgur.com/5yEck34Below shows how my skin is on the other side: http://imgur.com/VYb8xTXTLDR; be careful with antibiotics. Listen to your skin. Don’t always assume it’s acne.

[Acne] Just had a stranger point out my skin, really upsetting.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I work front desk at a hotel, and had a bad interaction with a woman who I had to ask to leave multiple times. She kept pointing out my skin, telling me I look disgusting and I really need to do something about my acne.I had to go in the back and calm down because I couldn't stop crying over what she said. I'm just so done with my skin-I've been trying for years, and it seems like nothing will work. I feel like I'll always have this disgusting skin.I have some small white heads on my cheeks and forehead, and closed comedones aon my cheeks, forehead, and nose. I also have some mild scarring from it all, and a little bit of texture to my cheeks. My current routine(seems to leave my skin not as bad as it has been, but not good):AM: Wash with waterCetaphil moisturizerNeutrogena Sunscreen SPF 50Very light makeup maybe once every couple weeks, just for eventsPM: CeraVe Oily Skin CleanserStridex PadsCetaphil moisturizerI don't eat dairy, have cut my sugar intake down a lot. I try to drink a lot of water, but no one is perfect. I wear my hair up 50% of the time, and try not to touch my face. I can't afford a dermatologist right now, so I can't go in to see one.I just really need some advice, and to know that this won't be for the rest of my life.

[skin concern] How can I calm my nightly “burn face”?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Every evening about 5 or 6pm my cheeks get flushed and feel burning hot. I’m not sure if it’s rosacea b/c there’s no bumps or eruptions. It isn’t triggered by anything (food/alcohol), just the time of day. Is there something I can use to calm and soothe the burn and diminish the redness? Sometimes I’ve washed off my makeup for the day, but sometimes not. Is there a mist or something?

[Misc] PSA: When to use Wiki & the sidebar, when to use the DHT, and when to keep your mouth shut.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
These are a few observations I've noticed recently and I just wanted to give a few of you a heads up.If you are new to this sub, chances are you are looking to start a routine, or fix your routine. And if that's the case, it's best to know how to post, when to post, and where to post.SkincareAddication has a list of Holy Grails that users have given reviews on products they love. There is also an in-depth Wiki page detailing what products you might want to use depending on your conditions.Everything you want to know about certain products, ingredients, reviews...etc can be searched and found in this sub. You just need to take the time to find it.And a lot of users have. They took the time to do their research about their routine. So coming in here expecting someone to do that work for you, is annoying and you have a high chance of being ignored or getting terrible advice. When you ask on the DHT a question that can be found by searching the sub, it most likely will not be answered. In which case, please do not go to the main thread asking your question there. It clogs the sub up with pointless posts that again will most likely get ignored. The Daily Help Thread (DTH) is more for common questions about your routine. Am I using these products in the right order? Is it okay to use product A with product B? I'm not having the most positive reaction, is there a reason why? It's questions that you are struggling to find the answers for but is something that can be quickly answered by someone who might have more knowledge. And finally, when to keep your mouth shut.Sometimes it seems like the only people who tend to answer questions are the people who shouldn't be answering questions. They tell users to drink water, eat better food...etc. Really basic answers that all of us have heard throughout the years of our acne and other skincare problems and we are typically aware that it's not the problem.Or they give answers with nothing to back up what they are saying. They tell you you should use The Ordinary's Lactic acid, but they don't tell you why, they don't tell you to be careful if you already have another BHA, or other very important details that go into using such products.Sorry for my dumb rant, this sub just seems like it's filled with useless questions and answers. There is too much bad advice. I researched for what felt like forever trying to build my routine. And I did not buy 50 products at once expecting random strangers on the internet who have never seen my skin to tell me what to do with them. It took me 2 years to get a solid routine I am happy with.TLDR: I'm just once again really disappointed with this subs content and feel like there is no moderation whatsoever.

[Acne] Red Stridex Pads vs Oxy Pads . . . with a plot twist! Learn from my mistake!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I have hormonal acne (suspected PCOS), and I use maximum strength Stridex in the red box as a part of my skin care routine.Oddly enough, the red Stridex seems to be hard to get ahold of around here. At least half the time, they are sold out, or they suddenly stop carrying it. This happens at multiple stores, be they "big box" stores or drug stores. In any case, I'm not in a position to drive all over creation trying to find a single jar of red Stridex, so I have to find a suitable replacement at whatever store I am standing in at that point in time. I don't want to use a generic brand, so I usually end up using the Oxy brand medicated pads. Both have 2% salicylic acid as the active ingredient, so I figured it would be okay.I don't know if there is a better alternative, but I legitimately hate this stuff.See, I do have hormonal acne, but I also took 6 months of Accutane back in 2010 or so, and then I was on 2 years of a hormone-balancing medication called Spironolactone. As some of you know, Accutane requires monthly blood work, monthly pregnancy tests, screenings, signed waivers, iPledge certifications, monthly dermatologist visits, and the medication itself. And I had to pay for all if it out of pocket. It cost me well over $5,000 total. So while I still have hormonal acne, it's NOTHING like it was, and I can usually keep it mostly under control with a good skin care routine. So back to the Oxy pads. I tend to stock up when I have to repurchase items, so when the store didn't have anything else, I stocked up on a few jars of the Oxy pads. I just used my last Oxy pad two days ago, and I have never been so happy to be rid of it.When I use red Stridex, my skin is happier. I get fewer pimples, and the pimples I do get are smaller and less red and angry, and they heal faster. But once I started using the Oxy, it was nothing but a struggle. Several times, I thought my skin was reverting back to its pre-Accutane days, and that legitimately scared me. About two weeks ago, I got a giant, tender, angry cyst on my chin that's still trying to shrink. If you look at it from the right angle, you can actually see the "height" of it. And I have another 3 or 4 fiery-red, knobby pimples on my neck. I thought maybe "shark week" was to blame, but I kept finding at least one new pimple every day. And the texture of my skin overall just wasn't as nice. And all of that is with me also using a Retinol and the rest of my skin care routine religiously on both my face and neck. All I kept thinking was, "I spent $5,000 on my skin - for THIS???" This dragged on for months.I finally got my hands on the red Stridex again, and I've been using it for two days now. All my pimples have started trying out, and I'm not seeing new pimples every day anymore. I'm starting to feel much more relaxed about my skin. It had to be the black Stridex pads, because nothing else in my routine has changed. I don't know what was in that stuff, but I hated the entire experience. The red Stridex is just so much better.~ 10 CONTEMPLATIVE MINUTES LATER ~So then I started doing some research. The Stridex website boasts about how it doesn't use alcohol in their medicated pads, which I thought was nice. And that got me thinking. Both have 2% salicylic acid, so I knew I had to dig deeper. I plucked the empty Oxy jar out of the trash (gross, I know), and looked at the inactive ingredient list. The first ingredient on that list? ALCOHOL. Not just alcohol, but FORTY-SIX PERCENT alcohol! Those sneaky, rat-faced bastards!!The weird thing is, the Oxy wasn't drying my skin out, nor was it making my skin overcompensate with more oiliness. It just made me break out . . . so all I can think of is that the alcohol destroyed the healthy skin barrier and allowed bacteria to invade. I guess? It felt good to get this off my chest. Learn from my mistake, ladies and gents! For the love of all things sacred, read the inactive ingredients list!!TL;DR: Imposter acne pads bamboozled me into nearly ruining my skin.

[CRINGE] Youtuber Does a DIY 25% TCA Peel and Combines it with Undiluted Essential Oils

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am talking about this. I am not against at-home TCA peels but I cringed so hard while watching this. She put 25% TCA peel on her face, then topped it with undiluted essential oils like lavender oil, then mixed her SPF in a bowl with make-up and put a tiny bit of it on her face. She also recommended not washing your face for like a week as if putting make-up on a TCA peeled face wasn't bad enough.I mean, with TCA peel your stratum corneum is virtually non-existent meaning there is pretty much nothing to protect your skin from sun damage. Essential oils can be photo-toxic meaning they will burn the shit out of your face when they are exposed to UV light. Sunscreens are very fragile and mixing them with make-up IN A BOWL may destabilize them (not putting on sunscreen and then doing make-up, she is literally mixing make-up with sunscreen) and even if this isn't the case she put a tiny bit of sunscreen on her face. So, she was literally walking around with an irritated + vulnerable skin with potentially photo-toxic ingredients and probably no sun protection. I mean, a man got a huge chemical burn just by having lime juice on his hand and going out. Not undiluted essential oil, just lime juice. And I am really glad that she did not get a skin infection despite putting a lot of questionable products and make-up on her face and then proceeding to not wash it at all. This isn't just bad for herself though... She said she will give away TCA to viewers of this video and encouraged them to do same things she done. I am incredibly worried that someone somewhere will end up with a degree chemical burn or skin infection that may leave scars.
