[Skin Concern] My skin got totally f*cked up from using one product last year (pimples and redness) It’s been more than a year and still hasn’t recovered.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! I feel like a skincare newbie even though I’ve been using a cleanser, toner and moisturizer for more than 15 years! I never really found my favourite product. My skin is very, very oily but also sensitive. Normally It is NOT prone to breakouts. My main concerns are the redness, red spots, red pimples and hyperpigmentation from where my pimples healed. I had smooth skin all my adult life (prone to irritation but no acne). Then it all changed in early 2020 when I started getting the worst breakouts since middle school. All because of a powder foundation.I use a ton of sunscreen so I know it can’t be sunburn. But my skin is red all over and full of red spots. Even my CeraVe moisturizer stings. Most stuff from CosRX stings. My routine is pretty simple. It always looks like the following:AM * Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Micellar Cleansing Foam 2X (great cleasing power but will not be repurchasing due to strong scent)Rose-Scented Witch Hazel Toner (discontinued few days ago)CeraVe PM Lotion (this stuff stings!)Biore Aqua Rich Watery Gel (enough to make me look like a clown)PMRound Lab Cleansing OilGarnier CornFlower Miscellar WaterInnisfree Super Volcanic Pore Micellar Cleansing Foam 2X (great cleasing power but will not be repurchasing due to strong scent)Rose-Scented Witch Hazel Toner (discontinued few days ago)CeraVe PM Lotion (this stuff stings!)Either The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% OR Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid (both are really good at reducing my acne but not good enough to fade out my acne and redness)Products that don’t work for meAny drugstore cleansers, toners and moisturizers (Aveeno, Neutrogena, Garnier, L’Oreal and Nivea have all irritated my skin to extreme and made my eyes water like I’ve been chopping onions all day)Most things from CosRX. I don’t know HOW but my skin has either reacted badly to most things from CosRX or their products don’t work as advertised.American sunscreens make me break out and turn my face red! I started crying when I used sunscreens from Neutrogena and Garnier Ombrelle. I’m wondering if it’s octocrylene? On the other hand, my skin has not reacted to The Ordinary. I’ve used several products from them. The only product that has irritated me is their HA Moisturizing Factors.I do not like strong, scented products.I am sensitive to citrus essential oils.

[PSA] Valisure is offering free sunscreen testing for the carcinogen benzene

Beauty Tips For Body Care
While we don't know the full story regarding Valisure's results and the FDA has not responded to their petition yet, I thought it would be helpful to share that Valisure is conducting a crowdsourced study of sunscreens with free, independent third-party testing for benzene contamination. They will send you results within 8-12 weeks after receiving and testing your product. Some important caveats include that you will have to send new, unopened containers in their original packaging, they prioritize testing so you are not guaranteed results, and they will not send your sunscreen back post-testing.With all this being said, if you're still interested in sending your sunscreen for potential testing, here is the link with more information: https://www.valisure.com/valisure-studying-sun-care-product-contamination-2/I'm not sure if this helps anybody, but I will hopefully gain some peace of mind after I send in my favorite, daily go-to sunscreen, EltaMD UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41. I was also thinking this may be a good way to hold these companies accountable if they put out statements where they promise better quality control of their products but benzene is still detected after the fact.Hopefully, Valisure will post a list of their new crowdsourced findings, but if they don't then perhaps we can make a separate post on Reddit to help each other if enough people send in sunscreens and get results back.

[Skin Concerns] Alternatives for accutane for my boyfriend

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My boyfriend has been on accutane a couple of years ago and it helped with his acne. Now it’s coming back again but it’s not at bad as it was.I want to find products to try and clear it up before he goes back on accutane. Accutane would be the last resort if we can’t find anything. My boyfriend is breaking out around his neck and jawline and has combination oily dry skin. I was looking into differin and vitamin B5 supplements as a start; what are some other over the counter products you guys would recommend?

[routine help] dark eye bags

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Any recommendations about products that actually help with dark eye bags? I’ve tried the Murad Renewal Eye Serum, and it did help, but it’s $80 so I was hoping to find a cheaper alternative. I get around 7 hours of sleep and drink 60 oz of water per day, so I doubt the eye bags would be caused by lack of sleep or anything. Please help me out!

[ACNE] Ginkgo biloba is somehow curing my acne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’m gonna try make this short and sweet. I’ve had acne for like 6-7 years now, tried legit everything blah blah you know the spiel, but its always been consistent (mild). Benzoyl peroxide has helped me a lot and I still use it, but even when using it I’d still get break outs.(To preface nothing has changed in my skincare routine nor diet)I started taking ginkgo biloba because I have poor circulation and I suffer from chilblains on my hands in the cold months. Now I barely break out at all, I’ve gone a full week multiple times without getting a new breakout which does not ever happen to me. Can someone tell me what is even happening?? How is ginkgo biloba curing my acne I don’t understand. I’m definitely not gonna make the claim that it will have the same effect on you, but for me its a miracle. I’ve tried googling stuff but theres very very little info on its affect on acne, so if anyone has any insight I’d love to hear it.
