Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had mild acne throughout high school, but it's gotten increasingly worse in my 20s. I've been to see a couple of different dermatologists numerous times and tried a lot of different topical and oral prescriptions (doxycycline, Oracea, Epiduo, and many more I can't even remember). In June/July 2014, I started using a gentle cleanser (Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser Creamy Formula) in the morning and at night, toning with an apple cider vinegar/water solution in the morning and at night, and moisturizing in the morning with Olay All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen. (I was also on Gianvi birth control pills, but I'd been taking them since about February 2014 and they didn't seem to have any effect on my acne. My breakouts have always come the week before and of my period, and my skin would spend the following weeks trying to heal -- and, of course, I'd get my period and another breakout before the previous spots went away.) But suddenly...my skin was clear for the first time in years--probably for the first time in a decade. I used to think I had really oily skin, but, after beginning this gentle regimen and seeing awesome results, it occurred to me that maybe I had just been irritating my skin with harsh cleansers and causing it to overproduce oil.In February 2015, I switched to Junel Fe birth control (and now I'm on Gildess Fe). Still had clear skin. I didn't change up my routine at all. But in early July, I started getting spots again. There were only small pimples at first, but now it's a full-blown break out with painful cystic pimples all over my chin, jawline, along my lips, and even on my cheeks. I haven't been picking at the pimples, but my skin has become so sensitive that even washing it gently with a washcloth pops the whiteheads. (Sorry, that's gross, I know.) I've tried not using the same washcloth twice, changing my pillowcase each night, wiping down my cell phone before I use it, washing my hands before cleansing my face/putting on makeup, etc. Nothing seems to work. I haven't been using any new makeup products either.I don't understand why I suddenly started experiencing painful, embarrassing breakouts again. My face is red and splotchy and it just plain hurts. I've started using Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser in the morning and at night (this Thursday I'll have been using it for a week); I still use my ACV/water toner (1/3 ACV, 2/3 water) in the morning and at night; and, before putting on makeup in the morning, I put on the Olay moisturizer. I take my birth control pill at the same time each day.Has anyone else experienced this? And, if so, what did you do? I'm desperate for any insights you may have!
