Beauty Tips For Body Care
(SEE PHOTOS HERE) A year probably seems like a long time, but it's in the context of a 13+ year struggle and I am going nuts. I'm tired of complaining to my fiance with his stupid perfect skin with his once-a-month zit that goes away after two hours. So here I am.TLDR: I've tried a bunch of stuff, prescribed and OTC. From this sub, I've tried Stridex, Aztec clay mask, Queen Helene, both Thayers, CeraVe hydrating and in the tub, two different OCM routines. I've never tried anything that actually improved my skin, it's as if constant mild/moderate acne is my life forever. Any advice welcome, trying to see my derm soon so even prescribed treatments I should mention would be helpful. Thank you (seriously)! Background: I've had bad skin since I was 10; my mom also had acne and she just says, "by the time you're 18 you'll grow out of it" which became 20, then 22, now 25. My friends have all aged in and out of their acne phase during the time I've been trying to manage mine. I'd been seeing a dermatologist since 7th grade, and eventually stopped a couple years ago when all products either failed to do anything or made my skin worse. Been trying to make an appointment for a few weeks but they haven't returned my calls yet. Any suggestions for prescribed treatments are helpful as well. From memory, I've tried Differin, Retin-A, Clindamycin, Doxycycline, and a few others for my face; Vanicream, Cetaphil, CeraVe (in the tub), and argan oil as moisturizers; a prescribed sulfur foam on my back when I had minor acne, which has recently returned. I was on the pill (Loestrin) for a few years, and then switched to Mirena when I was...19? Had it for two years, took a year off, then got another one. Hard to say whether it affected my skin because it's always been mediocre and I was on these forms of BC for so long that there were a lot of ups and downs. OTC: CeraVe hydrating cleanser (breaks me out as does the moisturizer), Stridex in the red box (six months, no change), OCM (sensitive skin treatment from GoW - no change, argan oil - no change). I feel like I'm missing some things but the gist is, I've tried a lot and am not sure what to do next.Current routine: Looking for help so I can start a new routine. Right now I'm just rinsing my face in the morning and evening, and I use Thayer's rose petal witch hazel twice a day (I've also tried the version without rose petal). For everything that hasn't made my skin worse, I haven't noticed it doing much good for my skin either. That seems to be my main issue, nothing shows improvement.Useful info: I have a Mirena IUD. I don't consume dairy and haven't for about nine months. My acne appears to be primarily hormonal and contained to my jaw/lower cheeks/chin recently with a few spots elsewhere (Again, SEE PHOTOS HERE). I'm hydrated. I don't wear makeup except maybe once every few months. I don't get a lot of sun except when I'm driving to/from work or out exercising, during which time I use sunscreen.
