[Acne] What is the best way to PREVENT blackheads from forming? BHA? Retinoid? AHA?

Sometimes I get really bad blackheads that don't go away and I end up paying $$$ to get them extracted. It's not the best. I'm intent on preventing them in the first place - what do you recommend?
