Beauty Tips For Body Care
Today, I went to a dermatologist and he used laser to remove the freckles and moles from my face. I wanted to share my experiences for people who are considering taking this route. I’m not affiliated with any products and services. Personally, I like my freckles but they’re increasing to the point where I’m uncomfortable with them so that’s why I chose this option. Please consult a professional, research treatments, and understand the risks before attempting. AMA but YMMV!Prior to choosing laser removal, here are some things I’ve tried:BHA/AHAVitamin CSnail ProductsSKII2 years of daily sunscreen use (98% of the time)IPL laser/photofacial at a beauty salon (if interested, I can elaborate more on IPL in comments)Though some of these things did have positive impacts on my skin, my freckles were staying put. That’s when I decided to find a local, trusted dermatologist. I had a consultation with him where he explained the treatment, costs, aftercare, risks, and expectations before I decided to go ahead with the treatment.[Full album] http://imgur.com/a/rIAT2[Basic Info]Type of Laser: Q Switched Alexandrite LaserLocation: Dermatology office affiliated with a hospitalCosts: Based on size of treated area. It was $450 CDN + taxes for me[The Consult]Before pic: http://i.imgur.com/3JmjhsC.jpgThe dermatologist went over the procedures, risks, and costs. I have fair skin and the dermatologist was confident at least 80-90% of my freckles would fade after one treatment. A nurse photographed my face from three angles and I signed consent forms.[Does it hurt?] HELL YES. It’s supposed to feel like an elastic band snapped against your skin but imagine like, a lot of elastic bands and they’re being snapped very hard on your face. It definitely wasn’t comfortable. The pain is worse than a Brazilian wax. My pain tolerance is usually OK but I would rate this 8/10 on how much it hurts. Thankfully, it lasted only 15 minutes and he only worked on areas with freckles, not the full face.[Immediately after treatment] http://i.imgur.com/l6IuD2R.jpg IT BURNS. For a good 20-30 minutes, my face was slightly swollen, red, and burns. This is where I pray to skincare gods: “I hope this is worth it!!” They gave me an ice pack for my face and some samples of sunscreen and creams. They suggested I gently washed my face and use Vaseline over treated areas.[30 minutes after treatment] http://i.imgur.com/3pMp9P5.jpg] Burning sensation subsided. The freckles look a little darker and the skin around it is slightly raised – similar to a mosquito bite.[2+ hours after treatment] http://i.imgur.com/XySp0Hn.jpg I look like Pippi Longstocking. My skintone went back to normal but my freckles are dark and it stands out. That’s all for now. Feel free to ask questions and I’ll answer to the best of my availability. If anyone is interested, I’ll make a follow-up post when it heals for the full before and after!
