Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am 23F with severe cystic acne. It is genetic and not hormonal related. In fact the boys in my family get it even worse even into adulthood. My skin is usually really oily. Like later in the day I can feel it on my face and fingers. For years I went to the dermatologist and nothing helped. None of the creams, the bc pill, antibiotics, face washes etc. that they prescribed did anything. I tried many combinations of these with no luck.So now my derm said my only options were retin a or accutane (or the current version of it).She prescribed Retin A Micro gel 0.1% (straight to that one, without trying the lower percentages first) to use every night. That was 5 and a half months ago. I had the dreaded Purge. Impossibly dry, flaky, red etc. Breaking out everywhere, with 7-10 cystic pimples all over my face, mostly on my chin and top of my nose/ eyebrows. After a month or so of the purge my face started to clear. Not all the way but it was getting better. Much much fewer pimples, and the ones that came disappeared super quickly. No more cysts.Until a month ago. I have had another massive breakout. I have 10 cystic pimples/nodules all over my face that are itchy and painful (I'm trying not to touch but its so itchy!) plus lots of smaller "Regular" ones.Or I heard that benzyl peroxide helps retin a work better so I used a face wash for three days. The one I had was 10% and I badly burned my face with it. I stopped using it and didn't use retin for a couple nights so my face could heal. But I hear that people only use retin a 3 times a week and it still works.I'm not sure if it is a second (normal) purge or what. During the day I use zinc oxide sunscreen and usually moisturizer (not always).I would rather not go on the Accutane pill, but I'm tired of looking so bad and the pain and itchiness. That might be my only option :(
