Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone! Thanks for taking the time to read this, as I desperately need your help and advice! To start, I had fractional CO2 laser resurfacing about 6-8 weeks ago (for acne scarring). Up to that point I had been using Cetaphil gentle cleanser & Cetaphil moisturizing lotion for the last 1-2 years. My derm freaked me out when she stressed using an oil free moisturizer ("Are you sure Cetaphil doesn't break you out??"), and not wanting to mess up my "new skin", I followed her advice and used the CeraVe samples she had provided. I knew better - but I didn't listen to my gut, and I started using CeraVe after a very short period of patch testing where nothing seemed to go terribly wrong.Well, I started getting HUGE "fields" of closed comodones on my forehead/temples - and I NEVER really break out there! I knew something had to be wrong with the CeraVe (I didn't have a positive experience with the In the Tub variety), so I ditched it and went into panic mode. In the next 48-72 hours I used the Real Chemistry 3-min luminous peel, and the Aztec secret healing clay mask too. Maybe a Stridex red box pad thrown in the mix, plus I was still using my Aczone medication. I was so desperate to make the new breakouts stop at the source that I was exfoliating with reckless abandon.I went back to my Cetaphil moisturizer during this time. Perhaps it was leftover from the CeraVe, but I continued to see new breakouts on my cheeks, and panicked that my Cetaphil was helping to break me out as well. So I started moisturizing with aloe/jojoba oil to try and "purify" my routine. That only served to further irritate my skin (presumably because I had decimated my moisture barrier).I write to you kind folks today with a burning face. I'm still using my Cetaphil moisturizer, praying it isn't irritating my skin. I understand that I need to be patient while I rebuild the barrier.I'm wearing La Roche Posay's Anthelios AOX Daily Antioxidant Serum with Sunscreen SPF 50 today, which is a fairly new product for me. My skin started to "burn" when I put it on this morning - is this just my angry moisture barrier talking? I am NOT getting any red spots/rashes/flushed-ness, but I can feel it subtly burning as I sit here. Should I go home and wash my face, and wear only lotion without SPF today? Or, should I ignore the burning and know that pretty much anything will make my skin burn at this point, until my moisture barrier is repaired? I 100% understand if the burning is a consequence of my silly actions, but if the burning sensation is potentially harmful, then I want to nip it in the bud.Any advice/tips are welcome. Thanks again!
