[Review][Personal] I've tried several SCA's favourite products and my opinion differs. I realized everyone has different skin and Less is more.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey SCA! I've been roaming around for a couple of years and the thing I learned is that less is more. As a disclaimer, everyone's skin is different and if there's a routine that suits you best, keep at it :).I have an acne prone skin and unfortunately my PIH takes years to fade. So it's risky for me to experiment, go through trial and error, and pick my skin. Prior to visiting SCA, I never had a routine. I went to two dermatologists but the medicine they recommended was out of my budget or scarring my skin. I adore reading posts after posts of everyone's holy grail product, so I decided to try them out. This mini review is my 5 years experience so I hope you enjoy!Cleansers:Spectro Gel (Unscented): Great for sensitive skin, but did not clean very well. I could still pick up dirt and greasy skin oil. Yuck :P It was not for me.CeraVe Foaming Cleanser: IT WAS THE WORST PRODUCT I'VE EVER USED. I was looking forward to using this product. However, third day after using the cleanser, I broke out into cystic acne on my cheeks and my face became red and bumpy like I was having hives. I put away this cleanser thinking that maybe it's my hormonal acne that's acting up. That was not the case. I tried again a few months later once my cheeks became less bumpy, but it was a mess. I threw away the cleanser. It was not for me. It actually ruined my skin and I'm trying to fade the PIH left behind for the last 2 years.OCM with Mineral oil: This was the best thing that's ever happened to my face! I don't have blackheads, my cystic acne has not re-emerged, and my skin is never dry.Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser: Amazing in removing makeup. It's gentle and I never broke out!Clarisonic: I use it only on the days I'm wearing makeup. It AMAZING in cleaning my skin, but it's a little harsh and prickly on my skin for everyday use.Exfoliators:Konjac Sponge: Where were you in my entire life?? I love this sponge for the purpose of exfoliating. It's so gentle and has helped significantly in reducing my PIH.Clay masks: Whether it's Queen or Aztec, clay masks were not helpful for my skin because it was too drying and was creating fines lines on my forehead. I immediately stopped using it after one month. I don't have blackhead problems because the OCM was taking care of that.St.Ives AHA pads: Holy moly. The pads left my skin red and burning. Yes I used it at night. Yes I never combined AHA and BHA together and instead used it for alternating days. It helped reduced some flaky skin, but peeling skin is better than burning skin. Never saw a significant reduction in PIH because I didn't use it long enough. I'm using the remaining pads on my elbows and knees, and to reduce ingrown hair when shaving.Salicylic Acid: Used in an acne wash, but stopped for some reason I don't actually remember.Moisturizer:Cerave AM: It was amazing in reducing PIH due to the niacinamide. It's a bit greasy though and the creams rolls off or gives white smears because it's also meant to have SPF. I like it, but prefer PM much better.Cerave PM: LOVE IT. Light, gentle, no breaking out, retains moisture, and NIACINAMIDE! Love love love it.St.Ives Timeless Skin: using as a thicker moisturizer because it's gentle, soft, and has created closed comedones for me. I've tried Nivea (but left skin darker and greasy), Ponds Cold Cream (but closed comedones).Sunscreen:Banana Boat for Kids: Incredible sunscreen. For anyone whose skins burns under the sun, this sunscreen is magical. I love love love it.Neutrogena UltraSheer: Incredible product as well. It's not long lasting as Banana Boat. However, it's not greasy, absorbs quickly, and does not leave white cast. What's my routine?AM: Wash face with water, moisturize with St.Ives Timeless, let it dry, put on Neutrogena Sunscreen and let it absorb for 30 mins, vaseline on lips.PM: Clarisonic with Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser if I have makeup on. If no makeup, cleanse with Neutrogena and konjac sponge, OCM with mineral oil, Cerave PM, then St. Ives timeless. Conclusion: Everyone has different skin. My skin cannot handle active ingredients very well and a simple routine is doing wonders for it.I'm so fortunate to have you guys teach the ABCs of skincare because it's changed my life. I don't have cystic acne anymore aside from the monthly period. However even then, my hormonal acne goes away within a week. My PIH is fading, and my friends are telling me my skin looks so much better. I even had a friend ask me for advise! So honestly Thank you so much for helping me grow at the toughest time.
