Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, I'm a long time lurker and finally joined the sub, so hopefully I'm doing this right and not making it too hard to answer if anyone has been in a similar situation. To start, here's my skins history and routine morning/night:21 years old, thought I had very oily skin for most of my life but turns out it was just very dehydrated from years of using bar soap on my face. Now it's more combination, with normal skin on lower half of face but oily in the t zone. Always been sensitive and eczema prone since I was a baby.?Never had acne until I turned 18, then suddenly had a lower face full of cysts and pustules. So I got a little over zealous and used stridex in the red box, st. Ives green tea scrub daily (stopped use IMMEDIATELY as soon as I found out scrubs like that hurt the skin) and black soap with a washcloth, but it didn't do anything for me, just make my skin red and angry along with the acne. Finally ended up getting prescribed benzamycin cream (which really wrecked my moisture barrier) and decided to start from scratch, and repaired my moisture barrier in about 4 months of being extremely gentle with it. Acne was cleared up after finding out my nose and ears were colonized with staph, which was treated with Bactroban ointment and cleared up immediately. Now that my barrier is repaired and acne cleared up, my routine is this:*Double cleanse with sweet almond oil and then yes to carrots cream cleanser, fragrance free version. *Garden of wisdom cranberry HA serum *cerave am or pm depending on the time *Dr. G medi UV suncream SPF 50 (in the AM only) *twice a week, I use garden of wisdom's pineapple/red wine exfoliating enzyme gel. I can't use any other exfoliants, as my skin is sensitive to BHAs and AHAs cause little closed clogged pores for some reason no matter how long I use them.So here's my problem. I still have extremely oily skin, although I know my moisture barrier is repaired. When I take showers at my boyfriend's house (lives on a golf course and has a water softener) my skin looks amazing and glowy, no extra oil production or residue. Same thing when I'm at friend's houses and take showers there, my skin actually reflects all the work I put into it. At home, my water is hard, but I think the problem is excessive chlorine. When I run a bath, my bathroom smells like a hotel pool. My skin and hair smell like chlorine after showers, and it's dried my body skin out badly. My face is oily even right after I wash it, almost as if I didn't actually wash any oil off of it. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and what they did to fix it? I was looking into getting a vitamin C filter, but not sure which option is best or if they even work for this problem.Sorry for the essay of a post! Hopefully someone can help, and thank you in advance for any replies!
