Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone. Thought I might share my story as it may help someone avoid the years I spent dealing with this. Also, for anyone else who has a similar condition, I would LOVE to hear your story. So, as a teenager and into my early twenties, my acne was not bad. Normal teenager stuff but nothing major. Then, around 25, it was like the Evil Acne Fairy bopped me over the head. Many big, red, angry zits constantly around my mouth and chin. Constantly. If I had a picture, I would post it so you could see that I am not exaggerating the terribleness. However, back then, I tried to avoid cameras at all costs. I tried every acne cream/wash/routine under the sun, nothing worked. Went to more than one dermatologist, all of whom diagnosed it as hormonal acne and prescribed various things, none of which helped. Then, some Internet Friend suggested I try using toothpaste to "dry up" the skin a bit. Willing to try anything at this point, I do. Surprisingly, it gets significantly worse. I do a bit of research, realize that a person CAN have a fluoride sensitivity. I stop using fluoride toothpaste and the acne improves significantly, but not completely. When I move next, I move to a township that does not add fluoride to the water. Problem disappears. It honestly was just like magic. Within a week of moving, it was like I had a different face. Not one single tiny zit in sight. Since then, I've lived in a non-fluoridated area and now have skin which is better than I ever thought was possible. So, just wanted to tell everyone, just because your doctor is telling you it is one thing doesn't necessarily mean it's true. Apparently, allergies and sensitivities CAN cause what appears to be cystic acne. Also, I would love to know if anyone else has had this. It's unlikely I'll be able to live in a non-fluoridated area forever and would love to share coping strategies.
