[Sun Care] Are AHAs photosensitizing even when they're not used as exfoliants (due to higher pH)?

I have a serum with AHAs in it but the pH of the serum is about 4.5-5.0 which is slightly too high to allow them to function as exfoliants. Is this still going to increase my risk of sun damage? I wear loads of sunscreen every day but regardless I'd rather not increase my risk of sun damage during the summer when the UV index is higher.
