Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey y'all, so I was reading a post a few days ago about how to sort of tone your routine down once you feel like you're in a "maintenance phase" and I thought I'd share my approach. When I was trying to figure out what worked for my skin, I bought a LOT of different products that didn't make the cut for my daily routine, but I'm not just going to let them go to waste! They all serve a specific purpose. Therefore, I like to cycle my masks and treatments throughout the month to make sure I'm getting a little bit of everything, when I need it.To start, my basic skincare routine is as follows:AM: Splash with water, apply TeaTree90 Essence, apply Josie Maran Argan Oil SPF 47PM: Remove makeup with Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil, cleanse with Hada Labo Tokyo Hydrating Facial Cleanser, apply Paula's Choice Extra Strength 2% Salicylic Acid, moisturize with TeaTre80 72 hour moisture creamI aim for 2 masks or treatments per week, and each week I have a "skin care focus." I aim to hit all my major issues within a month, and still leave room to experiment. The first week is typically the week before or the week I start my period, when my acne is the worse than usual- therefore I like to focus on acne-fighting treatments. During this week I will use:Paula's Choice Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide all over my face. (Other nights I just use it as a spot treatment)Aztec Secret Healing Indian Clay MaskThose treatments tend to be very drying, so the second week I focus on moisturizing. Really, I think of moisturizing as synonymous with "healing," so this is like a bounce-back week. Right now I am using:Dr. Jart Water Drop Hydrating MoisturizerAny of those Sephora brand sheet masks or sleep packs. I am partial to the rose and lotus! The third week is when I focus on fading PIE/PIH on my cheeks, and making sure my skin is radiant, so I use vitamin C and other brighteners!Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel. I try to use this twice in the week. Have to use up vit-c stuff quickly so it doesn't go bad!The last week I like to leave open to either a.) just appreciate my normal skincare routine and not worry about making time for masks, or b.) try something new (since I sometimes get samples from sephora and birchbox). Last week I used:Tata Harper resurfacing mask (birchbox sample)Shisheido Power Infusing Concentrate Serum (birchbox sample)I've really grown to enjoy this monthly routine for a few reasons! For one, it allows me to keep my day to day routine pretty simple. I discovered that the more complicated I made my nightly routine, the less likely I was to actually do it. By using "targeted attacks," I actually ended up using products more consistently than before, and my skin didn't get so sensitized to too much product. It also means all that money I spent wasn't for nothing ;) I hope this rundown helps someone else!TL;DR: Use your multitasker products every day, save the targeted products for when you need them, and cycle them month to month.
