[Research] [Rant] Half of Dermatologists Say They Weren’t Trained to Spot Cancer on Black Skin...

Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is a bit belated, but as I was just reading some threads about sunscreen options (or really, lack thereof) for darker skinned people, I wanted to share this article on this sub: http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2016/07/half-of-dermatologists-say-they-werent-trained-to-spot-cancer-on-black-skin.htmlI'm unfortunately not surprised by this article; even for more comparatively minor skin issues, I've found that a lot of derms have no clue how to deal with even medium-toned skin. Getting an appointment with a clinic that specializes in ethnic skin is impossible; there was a 4+ month wait at the place nearest to me. But honestly, there shouldn't be an "ethnic skin tone" specialty - ALL derms need to be able to handle people of all skin colors. Makes me frustrated with the profession as a whole.
