[skin concerns] I'm sick of my itchy, flaky scalp - how can I clear it up for good?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So for years I've had a kind of flaky scalp, but ever since I moved to Chicago it's been out of control. I guess the water has something in it that irritates my skin, maybe? Or it's the stress of living on my own? I don't know and I don't care.In the past, I used baking soda and apple cider vinegar. However that has stopped helping (and oddly enough it's becoming very difficult to get all of the baking soda out of my hair so I think I may be using too much). When I was younger, I used prescription Nizoral, which worked wonders (but smelled terribly). Recently I've tried some OTC shampoos but haven't had great results. Redken dandruff control shampoo did very little to help. Cutting out sulfates didn't help much either. On top of all this, I also have some cool bright colors in my hair so I don't want to shampoo every day else it'll fade quickly. So I try to shampoo only every 2 days (day one shampoo, day two just rinse, day three baking soda/ACV), but by the last day my scalp is almost unbearably itchy and flaky. It's gross. So, to those who have beaten back their flaky scalps, what worked? What didn't? Any help is appreciated!
