Beauty Tips For Body Care

I visited a doctor (not a dermatologist) and all he said was that it's normal for my age (I'm 20) and he prescribed some lotion that honestly hasn't been helping me. Currently I started using african black soap in the shower and argan oil after drying up my skin.Any suggestions on what to do? I'm starting to feel more and more insecure about it. I've had people tell me tanning can help get rid of it but I'm skeptical towards it since it can have bad effects in the long run.
