Beauty Tips For Body Care
This week I went to see two dermatologists to get a second opinion on my recurring, lifelong acne problem (http://imgur.com/EwLqgnU WARNING: disgusting image), but they have very different opinions, and now I'm conflicted as to what to do. Please help!Derm #1 wants me to start on a five-day course of antibiotics and gentle products, such as moisturizers and cleansers, and then move on to Accutane. She examined my skin really carefully and said I have inflammatory acne and was on the way to forming cysts (although I never had them before).Derm #2 already performed a glycolic acid peel on my face and wants me to use a topical adapalene/antibiotic cream twice a day for the next few days, without moisturizers or cleansers whatsoever (only sunscreen). After these 4 or 5 days, she told me to start doing the whole skincare routine, and I think she plans on giving me oral antibiotics. She seemed intent on clearing my active acne (and then reducing PIH and pores) via acids and antibiotics and said that, since I already used Accutane twice in my teens, and it's now relapsing full-force, it's not gonna work long-term and we'd be better off fighting the bacteria directly. Background: I'm 24 now, but I took two rounds of Accutane as a teenager, which made the problem go away temporarily before coming back. For about two or three months now, by recommendation of another derm which I'm not going back to (bad experience overall, ugh), I had been treating it with a combination of birth control and Epiduo, which seems to have helped dry it out a little, but caused burning face, redness and a very uncomfortable peeling which didn't go away after the first weeks. I was also on antibiotics for two months, one on Lymecycline, the other on Minocycline.I was set on taking Accutane for the third time, to finally get this over with, but I'm afraid of the long-term effects it might have after so many rounds. However, I'm also afraid that the topical solution might wreak havoc on my already-sensitive, already-dried out skin again, and most of all I'm afraid it won't be as effective as Accutane. So, in my shoes, what would you do?
