[Misc] What is the science behind oily skin?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've heard SO many things about oily skin and how to make it less oily - what is really going on with the skin?Is it hormonal? Is it dehydrated or "secretly" dry and therefore produces more oil to compensate? If so, why doesn't it stop getting so oily after it already produces a bit to moisturize the skin?Does adding oil (post cleanse) to already oily skin REALLY convince the skin that it doesn't have to produce so much oil? Then it keeps producing oil anyway, lol.I tried to search for the answer around the net, but results always come up as advertising a product with no real science behind it - or some seemingly far-fetched vague explanation. Help us oily peeps out /r/skincareaddiction , throw that science this way!
