[B&A] A year of tretinoin

Beauty Tips For Body Care
December 2014: I had started using Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting (haha) 2% BHA Gel about two months prior. My skin was relatively clear save for a few hormonal zits every month. This was the worst my skin has ever been in my life and I cried almost every day. I started seeing a dermatologist and he prescribed me the clindamycin dabber and adapalene cream, night and day, which I would use for about a month before starting tretinoin.http://imgur.com/2b8S32ehttp://imgur.com/bJySuhwJanuary 19, 2015: After about a month of the clindamycin and adapalene, I started to see a little bit of improvement. My existing breakouts were kind of less pronounced. I started on 0.025% tretinoin cream.http://imgur.com/QI6gCC0http://imgur.com/xJWG4TcJanuary 30, 2015: After only ten days of the tretinoin, I noticed a difference--especially on the right side of my face. Sorry for the change in lighting, new lightbulbs.http://imgur.com/SR2d9vOhttp://imgur.com/2eSegSfMarch 4, 2015: For the first time in months, no active breakouts! The tretinoin was working wonderfully, and the purging that I was so afraid of never really came. My face was smooth and I just had the red marks to deal with.http://imgur.com/5kf9swPhttp://imgur.com/RqmqzWoJune 11, 2015: The red marks lightened up dramatically. My skin was looking really nice, although I wish I could have said the same for my left eyebrow. I don't get them waxed anymore...http://imgur.com/Za4LuQPhttp://imgur.com/VOst59RDecember 6, 2015: Almost a year after starting tretinoin, my skin is nearly back to pre-Paula's Choice! So glad I was patient and stuck with the routine.http://imgur.com/ACbsXNHhttp://imgur.com/mbTr9FUI had Nexplanon inserted in November 2015 so now I'm starting to get some cystic acne from that, but the tretinoin is great at making it go away relatively quickly. My routine now is using a konjac sponge with water and CeraVe in the tub for the morning, and in the evening I use CeraVe hydrating cleanser with my sponge, 0.05% tretinoin (derm bumped me up early 2016), and CeraVe in the tub. I try to keep my routine really simple because my skin is extremely sensitive. This was definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. I love looking at the before pictures because it's so hard for me to believe my skin ever looked like that!
