Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey all,Just started lurking this subreddit a few months ago, this is my first post. I'm 26 years old and I'm not totally sure what kind of skin I have because it is changing pretty rapidly. I'm transgender, started hormones on August 5th, used to have fairly oily skin, and never had problems with acne or dry skin. Recently, my electrolysis appointments have become a lot more painful and less effective, and my electrologist is telling me my hair follicles are really, really dry.I suspect that my skin is losing its moisture barrier because of the elimination of testosterone, so I am adapting my oily-skin routine to be for not-oily-skin. Here are the changes I am making.Previous RoutineCleanser:NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic WashOccasionally subbing glycolic wash out for oil cleansing with jojoba oil from Trader Joe'sToner:Thayer's Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera TonerMoisturizer:Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing LotionAnti-Aging:Paula's Choice 1% Retinol TreatmentL'Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Overnight Moisturizer (which I think has AHAs in it)Trader Joe's Face and Body Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30Changes so farCleanser:Yes To Carrots Daily Cream Facial CleanserStopped using glycolic wash and stopped oil cleansingAnti-Aging:Stopped using retinol and the overnight moisturizer,Continued sunscreen useWould love thoughts on how I can best take care of my new skin - I'm not used to this, and I tried following the general guidelines on how to take care of naturally drier skin, but advice on keeping it moist and exfoliating without destroying the moisture barrier especially would be super appreciated! Thanks all <3
