Beauty Tips For Body Care
Okay, so bare with me here. I feel like I'm going crazy and I need you all to help me sort out my thoughts.I had clear skin up until a year ago when all of the sudden, last November, I got a cyst next to my nose. After three weeks, it wasn't coming to a head and I got impatient and popped it. It gave me sweet relief until about two days later when I woke up with three smaller cysts clustered up around the one I popped. These cysts were unlike anything I had experienced in the past when I had hormonal cystic acne in my teens. These started out incredibly inflamed, red, hot, and I could feel them throbbing on my face all of the time. They got bigger and bigger, and when left alone they would eventually form a head and pop on their own. This is where the real pain starts. Rather than drain and begin going down after a few days, they drain, and become even more hot, painful, and inflamed. They start swelling even larger, and by the time I wake up the next morning, they're just as engorged with pus as they were before they drained. Then, without fail, a new cyst pops up right next to it to add to the bunch. On a few occasions, I've tried emptying them completely myself but the result is still the same.Weeks went by and these cysts weren't going down, so I went to the derm who basically said, "Yeah, female acne is weird. Take this doxycycline for a month, that should help." So I did. Four days into my course, my cysts were gone. That lasted until one week after I finished my course. A new cyst formed on my other cheek, close to my nose, which turned into a cluster of four cysts with the same exact characteristics.Went back to the derm who tried to inject them. She put me on tretinoin and back on Doxy. The cortisone shots had the opposite of their intended effect, all four cysts continued to swell and become more painful until a week later when the doxy took effect.I am now six months into tretinoin and just finished my fourth round of doxy this year. Every time I go off of it, like clockwork, these horribly painful clusters of cysts pop up, always within inches of my nose. Here is a close up of my cheek a few days ago when the cysts were getting ready to pop. Here is what they look like after slapping a thin layer of clindamycin and leaving hydrocolloid bandages on them overnight to get them to drain. Notice how they're even more inflamed and angry?Does this look like anything any of you have experienced? I feel in my soul that this isn't just your run of the mill acne, but my derm doesn't seem to agree. She's had me in and out of her office in minutes every time I see her about this, and all other derms in my area are booked as early as November. My routine:AMSplash face with waterFinaceaCerave PMSunscreenPMCleanse with Cerave hydrating cleanser Clindamycin gelTretinoin .05% (every other night)Cerave PMI've tried eliminating dairy, evening primrose oil supplements, cutting fatty alcohols from my routine, going ceramide crazy in case it's a compromised barrier issue. No dice.I visited my derm on Thursday and asked whether she thought it could be staph. She swabbed one of them because I all but insisted, but said that everyone has staph on their faces and she would only be concerned if it came back positive for MRSA. Does this sound like staph to anyone?
