[acne] Had an unhelpful consult about laser treatment for PIE, need advice on where to go from here.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi fellow addicts! I’ve been a member of this community for a while but this is my first post. I’ve been on spironolactone for about 8 months now and my dermatologist declared me acne free a month ago. While I was ecstatic at this breakthrough after struggling to get my skin under control for years, most people wouldn’t know it looking at me. My unforgiving face still has several bright red spots (PIE) that while smooth look about as bad as pimples unless I go to great lengths to cover them. My derm suggested that I would be an ideal candidate for laser treatments, but to think it over as it would be about $600 and it’s not covered by insurance. I was actually surprised that it could be that inexpensive but she told me there are of course more expensive treatments but she never found them much more effective. I really trust her opinion as she has been with me through years of struggling with acne, and has been very supportive. So I decided to make an appointment with the doctor she referred me to in her office who does laser treatments. I met with him yesterday, and in short, it wasn’t for me. Aside from being weirdly rude, he told me that it would take 6-7 treatments to get about 30% overall improvement and that each treatment would run me $1,000. I’m sure that isn’t the most outrageous price for this sort of thing, but with a 30% improvement I’m not sure it would even be a noticeable difference. My question for you all is, where do I go from here? I’m not against getting a second opinion if this guy’s assessment isn’t typical, but to get in to see someone at an entirely different practice would probably take some time as most are not accepting new patients. Do I have other truly effective options besides lasers? The way that he described the laser he wanted to use (pokes tiny holes for unscarred tissue to grow up through) sounded a lot like microneedling to me. Can that be effective for acne scars? There’s definitely room in my routine for creams or serums, but I don’t want to do what I tried for my acne where I went through every cream and crazy idea searching for one that actually does something. Are there any creams that will actually work on PIE? I live in the US and have dry skin. I’m not expecting fast results or a cheap fix, I’m willing to spend several hundred dollars on something IF IT WORKS. And yes I realize that what works for someone else still may not work for me, but it’s at least a better chance than falling for some gimmicky product that doesn’t do a thing. I did use vit c serum for about 4 months while I was waiting for my acne to die down, but once it started to turn and I hadn’t seen any results on my scars I just tossed it.TL;DR: Need advice on fading PIE. Should I seek out someone new for laser treatments or find another alternative?
