I'm usually in the 'treat skin with kindess' camp with regards picking and popping, it usually works great with my sensitive skin, but I finally came face to face with a real monster that needed popping.I've just started a new job, moved state, and moved into a new house, so my skin decided to reward me with this: http://imgur.com/NG34DLIIt came up first as a small red patch, then came up as an angry red/brown lump so taut and shiny that the tip looks almost white.By being nice (only using Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser twice a day, gently massaging the area) I managed to get the redness and swelling to reduce, but it felt like something was hardening under the surface: http://imgur.com/0yyL8nOFinally after about 2 weeks I decided I'd had enough, the cyst 'came back' as a much smaller but still very hard and sore lump with an obvious white filling, I could almost see the 'opening' of the cyst when looking in the mirror: http://imgur.com/BKe0tzQSo I cleansed my skin, sat down with a hook ended metal extractor, pressed gently and literally jumped at all the gunk (with blood) that came projectile splattering out onto my desk and mirror: http://imgur.com/vickIEDThis is what it looks like this morning, the blood pooled and scabbed over very quickly. There was a lot of very dark blood as the cyst was so deep and the scab looked almost purple (no hydrocolloids to hand sadly): http://imgur.com/GQd02elThere's still going to be discolouration, but I can't believe how flat and well-healed it looks now. Still in the kindness camp, but an interesting lesson on when you need to get tough!Hope people aren't too disgusted!
