[Product Question] People who have used both The Ordinary (or other cheap brands) and Paula's Choice- Have you noticed a difference in quality/results?

I'm just thinking of trying out the Paula's choice Retinol 1% serum purely out of curiosity because I love The Ordinary's 2% Retinoid and I'm just wondering if people think it's worth splurging on Paula's Choice if you can afford it or if the cheaper brands available are just as good?
