So many of you guys are prescribed the antibiotic doxycycline to reduce the effects of bacteria inducing acne while you use topicals to break down acne from the surface.Very recently, I stopped taking my doxycycline tablets for about a week, mainly because I mistimed a refill, and I saw two major breakouts during this time. The breakouts were large, under the skin cysts; one of them seems to be a very hard lump. I've been on adapalene for about three months now as well.I can't say I'm too surprised but still a little disillusioned. My skin was doing pretty well on clearing up when the adapalene was paired with the doxy, but stopping the doxy for just a week seems to have thrown away a lot of progress really fast. I don't expect to be taking this antiobiotic for the rest of my life. I guess my question now is what's next? Seeing this result, I'm considering looking into other medication, but I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm wondering if there is a permanent solution to this.I've also heard a lot of people say that their skin just gets worse after stopping the doxy.
