[Meta] /r/all, SCA, and the magical cure for acne.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I lied about the third thing.Hey everybody! For the past few months an increasing number of posts are hitting /r/all. That brings in many new users, and with them a lot of rule 1 violations - which isn’t nice for the OP or for the rest of the community. So we’d like to discuss how we could deal with this. The increase in posts hitting /r/all is due to a couple things. Our subscribers and traffic are always increasing, so there are more people voting. And reddit has made some changes to their algorithm in the past year that result in small or moderately sized subs like ours to appear more often on the front page and for popular posts to be upvoted more highly. We’re very proud of our community, and posts that stay within our sub are doing a great job at abiding by our rules. Posts that hit /r/all bring in large amounts of users who are not familiar with our community, and often what follows is a large amount of rule violations, occasionally leading to threads needing to be locked. This is an issue we’ve been seeing more and more of recently and we’re exploring ways to deal with it.One option would be opting ScA out of appearing in /r/all. Our posts would not appear on the front page for non-subscribers, and they would not appear in /r/all, so the only people seeing our posts would be people who are already subscribed or that navigate here directly. Opting out of /r/all would also mean opting out of /r/popular (which is a different way of aggregating subreddits - see here for more info) - we can’t separate the two.The advantage of opting out of /r/all and /r/popular would obviously be that we’d see less rule breaking in popular posts. The OP’s of B&A and Selfie posts will receive less inappropriate comments, and we’ll see less rudeness in B&A, Selfie, and Humor posts. The disadvantage would be that it would make us slightly less accessible; people would only find our community if they were specifically looking for skincare advice on reddit or if linked from another sub. We’ve decided it would be best to let the sub decide whether or not to opt out, and in that vein what follows is a short survey where you can voice your opinion. The survey will be open until Monday, March 13, please only vote once. Feel free to discuss further in the comments, we’d love to hear your input!click here to fill out the survey Note: to make room for this post in our sticky slot, we’ve decided to postpone the Skin Concerns HG threads for a week. So join us next Monday for the first installment: Acne! Click here to see the full schedule.
