[Acne] Getting rid of closed comedones/clogged pores experience.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys.I just want to start off by saying, closed comedones are one of the hardest little things to get rid off. I went a whole year doing everything possible trying to rid of them. It all started May of last year (2016) when I developed these tiny bumpy white-like pimples (clogged pores) on my forehead after using coconut oil on my face. At the time, I didn't know coconut oil was the culprit of these tiny pimples. I started to freak out and started putting everything I read online that supposedly helped to get rid of clogged pores/closed comedones such as Salicylic Acid, tea tree oil, anti-fungal shampoo, benzoyl peroxide, etc. but nothing ever worked. It just dried my face immensely. I should mention, before all this madness happened, I never had an actually skincare routine. I just used whatever bar soap I found (eek) and washed my face with it to remove my makeup. I went half a year, feeling so shitty about my skin because these clogged pores wouldn't go away no matter what I tried. I felt so gross and ugly that I've had enough of it. In December of last year (2016) I decided to go see a dermatologist before the year ended because I would no longer have insurance benefits starting January. I felt so hopeless and thought maybe a dermatologist can help. Boy was it the worst first dermatologist appointment ever. My appointment did not even last 5 minutes and my dermatologist did not care about my concerns. She quickly prescribed me adapalene (for the a.m) and aczone (for the p.m). I left the office pretty confused and unsure about the prescription so I did my own research. I read online the topical creams I was prescribed can be very drying on skin and read that it only made others skin worse than it was before. I got scared and disregarded those topicals. Until this day I have not tried the topical prescription my dermatologist prescribed to me. I then went back online to do more research on how to get rid of these pesky clogged pores/closed comedones and that's when I found this subreddit /skincareaddiction. This subreddit introduced me to AHA's and BHA's and found out that they help to get rid of closed comedones. Here's my experience using Stridex:Stridex ExperienceAfter using Stridex for a month, I didn't really notice a change on my closed comedones (I feel like a gave me more) so I decided to try something stronger. My experience using Paula's Choice (AHA & BHA):Paula's Choice AHA & BHA ExperienceAfter trying BHA's & AHA's for a while I noticed that it just wasn't getting rid of ALL those tiny clogged pores that I was able to see close up. I came to conclusion that maybe I needed something stronger. After doing more research, that's when I found out about Curology :) Since I had no insurance at the moment, I read that Curology is an online dermatologist that requires no insurance while still getting prescribed useful topical creams including tretinoin. I've read so much about how tretinoin helped others with closed comedones and thought I'd give it a try. I also read good reviews on Curology and thought why not, what else do I have to lose. I started using Curology May 16th, 2017 and this is my forehead now:My forehead nowAs you can see, Curology has cleared my closed comedones completely in one month. I definitely give all the credit to Curology because I've only really seen a difference when I began using this product. I honestly couldn't be happier.(:Because I am using curology, my dermatologist recommended to have a simple skin routine with no AHA's & BHA's until the skin gets adjusted to curology formula.Morning Routine: Neutrogena Ultra gentle cleanser Simple Ultra moisturizer Apply makeup(still in search for a sunscreen)Night Routine: Remove makeup with makeup wipe Neutrogena Ultra gentle cleanser Curology Formula(* Curology was moisturizing enough that I didn't need a moisturizer at night)
