I don't have severe or cystic acne, but from the time I was a teen I've always had around 1-10 active pimples on my face. I'm 26 now and I've been getting really sick of it. Changing my pillowcases and starting an actual skincare routine helped somewhat, but it never went away completely. I would never even have one day of clear skin.I actually bought the azelaic acid a month ago, but my skin has been really upset lately so I was giving it a break from actives and makeup, and then for a week I was settling into using CeraVe SA Renewing Cream, which seemed to be causing purging and not much else. I was getting a new pimple every day and I looked awful.On Saturday I tried the azelaic acid for the first time. Sunday, I woke up with a couple more small whiteheads from purging, but the pimples I'd had the day before were gone -- which was surprising, but I figured they'd been there for a while and it was time. Monday, the new whiteheads were gone and I had no active pimples on my face, something that hasn't happened to me for about three years. I have also never had pimples clear up that fast without extracting, even with benzoyl peroxide.So this is just my thank you post to the SCA community. Without you guys, I never would have tried to navigate the marketing-driven world of skincare to find the science underneath, and I never would have heard of or tried azelaic acid. I didn't believe a "holy grail" ingredient like this could really exist.Just as a disclaimer, most people don't seem to notice results as fast as mine with azelaic acid, and I'm sure it was helped by the salicylic acid cream.
