[Routine Help] Are retinoids/tretonoids supposed to be part of your routine 'forever' or a few months as a treatment ?

May be a silly question, if you see your skin improves with retinoids or tretinoids, should you just keep using them or are they supposed to be used for a while and stopped once the issue disappears ?EDIT: Gaaaaaaah typo in the title ... *tretinoids -_-
