Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone! I'm always a big fan of caution stories, so I'd thought I'd share mine.About a year and a half ago, I went to my dentist (yet another doctor you should visit regularly) and the dental hygienist commented on a freckle I have on my ear. As it's on the top/back curve of my ear, I'd never even noticed it! I have no idea how long it's been there, but she mentioned that it was kind of big and irregular and perhaps I needed to get it checked out.My family has a history of melanoma and atypical moles, so I've always been somewhat cautious about the sun. Unfortunately, however, I despise the feeling of physical sunscreen so I didn't wear it too often growing up. Luckily, I also hated the sun so I didn't frequent the great outdoors on a regular basis. While in the last couple of years, I've completely changed my skin routine (chemical sunscreen is always a must!), that doesn't fix any damage that's already been done. When I went to the dermatologist a week ago (mine takes forever to get into) for my full body check up, she immediately honed in on that damn freckle and wanted a biopsy done. The results just came back today and, while not melanoma, it is severely atypical and needs to be completely removed. Joy.I'm only 21 and NEVER sun bathe or swim without sunscreen. My only (major) sun-sin is that I was lax about daily application of sunscreen for about 10 years of my life. It can bite you in the ass! So, although I feel like I'm preaching to the choir here, please always wear sunscreen (on your ears too!) and definitely always go to the dermatologist. Now, as a side note, has anyone ever gotten a spot removed on your ear? I'm kind of nervous how it's going to look (vain, I know). I just don't want to go around with like half an ear for the rest of my life.TL;DR - I'm a young 21f who is somewhat decent about skincare and have a severely atypical mole that needs to be removed. Wear sunscreen.
