[Acne] How using a peel daily still effects my skin 6 months later. Venting.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is me venting. I'll try to keep this as short as possible, with a TL;DR at the end. No before or after pics unfortunately, sorry. My friend had videos of me when I had my over exfoliation but it was so bad I made her delete it, not thinking of this post.6 months ago I had mild acne any other teenager has. Some blackheads and sebaceous filaments. That's all. I went to Sephora to see what they could do. At this point, I had no idea what a good routine for skincare consisted of or what I should do. I tried some harsh scrubs and cleansers (no moisturizer) from the drugstore but it didn't work so I thought higher end brands would work. The Sephora saleswoman showed me the Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Wrinkle Peel Pads. The pads are a 20% complex of "alpha, beta & gamma acids (including glycolic, salicylic, lactic, linolenic acids) and amino acids with antioxidants *vitamins a/retinol, c, d,e, f) I wasn't looking at the ingredients. I had no idea what these acids were 6 months ago. I just knew that she said it help, and the packaging says it will minimize pores. This is a peel. More so, a monthly peel or a weekly for those who are more experienced perhaps. It's supposed to be rinsed off after one to three minutes , but she says its so great she leaves it on overnight. I believed her.Guess what I did? Bought the expensive 60 pads and used it every night, leaving it on for 3 minutes. This was my only routine. No moisturizer. No cleanser. My first time using acids. Besides the fact that it literally made my face numb after the first use for 2 days, I finally hit over-exfoliation at around 2 weeks, maybe earlier. I had shiny skin. Reflective. At this point I didn't know what it was. I was purging sooo bad, so bad. It made me so self conscious, they were leaving nasty marks after too. I purged the whole way through.I lasted a month. I finally found this sub and I returned the pads (thank you Sephora for a great return policy) and I just stopped everything for a month and a half. My shininess went away!!! My skin just became super dry and flakey, but being shiny and the hyperpigmentation/purging made me the most self-conscious.I only used these pads on my t-zone, as that's where I break out. NEVER on my cheeks. But the very last night I used the pads, I used them on my cheeks. The pores became huge. More on the effect on my cheeks later..I gathered a routine. Went through up and downs with finding things that wouldn't break me out. I tried Cerave Foaming and that literally made my cheeks peel from dryness (first time ever) and it brought back my shiny over exfoliated skin????Today marks the 6 month anniversary. This product has left my skin with something permanent, it looks like. My skin has never been sensitive, but it totally is now ever since the peel pads. It gets irritated easily and I break out so much more. I thought my "acne" back then was bad. Now, there's clogged pores everywhere. All the hyperpigmentation I got from that nasty purge is still there. Still there, and going strong. My pores on my cheeks that were never noticeable? Still there. I now get break outs on my cheeks. And it upsets and stresses me out so much it's most likely just making everything worse. This is the routine I've been with for a month (morning routine has been added a week ago)AM: water TO Niacinamide (definitely definitely seen improvement on those hyper pigmentation marks with this!!!!) Cerave PMPM: water Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Creamy Cleanser Paula's Choice 2% Skin Perfecting BHA Liquid Cerave lotion in pump bottleI used Jojoba oil with my moisturizer at night for a couple days. I think it caused some bumps on my cheeks and closed comedones. And then I used oil blotting sheets 2 days ago, it has mineral oil in it and I think it broke me out last night. Ugh. This would never have happened before the peel, I've used both jojoba oil and mineral oil before fine. My skin is so sensitive and more acne-prone. Or maybe it's the Niacinamide breaking me out, who knows. My skin is completely messed up.I also didn't let my skin get used to the Paula's Choice chemical exfoliation and I kind of got straight into every day after 2 or 3 weeks.... not a good thing to do after this peel experience. Now I'm over-exfoliated again and I'm waiting for the shininess and the breakouts to leave.LESSON:please research before buying something like this, especially if it's a peel and you've never done it before or if you're a beginner. This sub really helped me a lot in learning how to treat my skin better and it actually sparked my interest in becoming a dermatologist one day. We live and we learn though, please learn from me and don't do the mistakes I did.TL;DR:Used a MONTHLY-WEEKLY PEEL every night without a routine/no moisturizer and no previous experience with exfoliation. Over-exfoliated and sensitized my skin and still have problems with hyper pigmentation and sensitivity today.
