[B&A] My skin after 8 months of progress

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Before & After PicsHello! I'm here to share my progress so far in regards to my skin!I have to say its been a journey full of trials and errors and a lot of frustration. My acne started acting up around a few years ago and I tried doing the SCA routine for a few months but it just didn't work out for me. In fact, Stridex dried the hell out of my skin. My breakouts were at their worst at around February of this year. A lot of factors happened throughout those years (school, finding work, family issues, birth control pills, experimenting with makeup, experimenting with different skincare products, etc.) but what affected me the worst was when my boyfriend of 4 years broke up with me. I was so devastated that I just didn't take care of myself. Any time I saw a pimple I would just pick at it and continuously pick at my scabs as they were healing, leaving behind a lot of PIH. I also didn't really cleanse my face properly and pretty much over-exfoliated when I was just starting to get into skincare. Due to the appearance of my skin, I was just extremely depressed and incredibly self-conscious most of the time. Any time I saw someone with better skin I just felt even more depressed. At that point, I told myself that I needed to properly take care of myself (as well as my skin). I experimented a lot and did my research but throughout the entire thing I realized that I needed to be patient and gentle to my skin. After several months I finally got my skin to be less inflamed and more manageable. I also started on Curology which has helped improve my skin by a ton.I got sucked into the X-Step Korean skincare routine over my months of experimenting. At first I found it excessive to do so many steps but now I find it incredibly relaxing because I know I'm pampering myself and helping my skin heal and improve. I've definitely seen a lot of improvement after going through my progress photos and I feel more confident stepping out of the house without any face makeup. I'm still a compulsive picker, but Vaseline has helped my scabs heal a lot better and encourages me to not touch my face when its on. Double cleansing is also the best thing ever. Here's my routine as of now:AM:Cetaphil Daily CleanserWait for skin to fully dryPixi Beauty Glow TonicDrunk Elephant C-FirmaPixi Beauty Vitamin Wakeup MistPixi Beauty Rose Caviar Essence SerumCorsX Snail 96 Mucin Power EssenceFirst Aid Beauty Ultra Repair CreamSunscreenPM:Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil (To remove any makeup I wore during the day)Cetaphil Daily CleanserMask 2x a week (I received lots of samples of Sephora, they include the Glamglow Supermud Mask, boscia Luminizing Black Mask, Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask, etc.)Wait for skin to fully dryPixi Beauty Glow TonicPixi Beauty Rose Caviar Essence Serum/CorsX Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (Alternate)MISSHA Time Revolution Night Repair New Science Activator AmpouleSheet Mask every other week if I feel like I need more pamperingCurology (Azelaic Acid 8%, Clindamycin 1%, Zinc Pyrithione 0.25%)I just started incorporating more steps into my PM routine so at first it was bare bones. Just cleansing and Curology and off to bed. Sometimes I used Pixi Beauty Overnight Glow Serum once a week just after cleansing before heading off to bed.I have a bunch of new stuff that I've purchased (some k-beauty products and The Ordinary) and will switch them in once I've used up anything in my routine. CVS recently launched some k-beauty products and I'm kinda excited to try some of them. I'm very focused on brightening up my hyperpigmentation. I still get breakouts but since using Curology it has been more manageable. I still get the occasional cystic acne during my time of my month.Overall, after a lot of time, research, self-loving, self-pampering, and self-discipline, I'm very happy with the progress so far and I'm excited to have clear skin again. For anyone struggling with acne, it will definitely get better. Just give it time :)
