[MISC] Why do most people in my family use a basic bar soap and moisturiser and still have great skin? (discussion)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, so after lurking here for a while and trying numerous products to no avail, I have finally come to the conclusion that I am internally and externally dehydrated and my moisture barrier is badly beaten. So just started a routine to counter that. But I was thinking that ever since I was a teen which is when my skin issues began (cystic hormonal acne, im 29 now), I stopped using bar soaps and started using fancy face washes and cleanser one after the other. Where as most of the women in my family, to this day use, any basic storebought bar soap, top it with a basic moisturiser like baby lotion or Olay beauty fluid, and have barely any skin issues at all, they are even aging really really well. Though it could be genetics, but if we link this to the moisture barrier discussion, could it be that sometimes less really is more for skin?Ive read so many stories about 80 plus year olds with great skin who said they used Nivea or Olay or Ponds. No expensive creams that we are after today with x, y , z ingredients. Why havent they been scrolling ingredient lists for ceramides, hyaluronic acid or niacinamide? Heck they might not even know about these and yet seem to be doing perfectly okay with a fuss free skincare routine. Thoughts? Also would love to hear any story from a family member who might have great skin due to a simple reason
