Beauty Tips For Body Care
I said to my SO today, "I like this product, it's absorbing well into my skin." He then replied, "What does that mean when you say 'absorb?' Like how does that work?"I have a degree in science but I actually didn't know the answer to this question. I consulted all-mighty Google, but I mostly got information about dermal absorption relating to drugs and related chemicals. So what's actually going on when we say "this lotion absorbs well into my skin" or "wait X minutes for the serum to absorb?" What do we have in our skin that pulls molecules from these products into our skin, if at all, and how deep does it penetrate on average? And are certain products more prone to absorption rather than adsorption (adhering to the surface rather than passing through a barrier), and vice versa?
