[PSA] don't let greenwashing "holistic" "organic" and "all natural" brands, blogs and marketers ruin your skin!!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been on SCA for years and years and used the SCA routine, but over the past year steadily tried to approach my skincare in a more "holistic" fashion cause I'm a crunchy bitch who likes to not shave or wear deodorant. I started to fear every unpronounceable ingredient, even though I had been a research based, science based, skincare junkie for so long that knew "all natural" products are often made with terrible ingredients like irritating essential oils, volatile plant extracts and more. I became paranoid that all these "chemicals" that were in my old Paula's Choice products were going to absorb into my blood stream and give me cancer, excess estrogens, or be so toxic that I'd have to do salt water enemas with my ass in the air to detox every organ in my body even though my skin was at it's CLEAREST when I was following a SCA routine and was doing nothing else to treat my acne. Greenwashers LOVE to instill that paranoia in you so you buy into what they're trying to sell. Like any other acne solution out there, there is money to be made, even if the solution is self-love cause hey! there are self help gurus that can help you radically fall in love with yourself and help you heal your skin with the power of positive affirmations for just $200 a skype session. TheLovevitamin and highonclearskin, ALMOST convinced me to buy DIM supplements, a supplement that can greatly effect your hormone levels, without consulting a doctor first, which is a big NO NO. They deny being sponsored by the brand Estroblock, who on Amazon, tells customers they need to buy and take more of their product if their skin is not clearing up. They made me obsessed with ingredients, in a bad way, to where the only ingredients I felt good about were water and something like hemp seed oil. They all advocate for using honey on your skin and yet none of them end up using honey as a face wash long term cause guess what - they got sponsored by this awesome non gmo organic fair trade company that shipped them their entire skincare line for free and gave them a discount code. (I'm looking at you EmpoweredSustenance) They can also cause a lot of stress and add unnecessary factors into the acne equation with all these restrictive diets like a candida diet (ebook purchase link below) that are said to "treat the root cause of acne". Because of this not only did I start to restrict my skincare routine to only washing with honey and using an expensive ass "natural" sunscreen, but I also started restricting the food groups I was okay with eating which is not good. It made me a good case of acne induced orthorexia .My main point is that the SCA routine, or even just science based skincare formulated with both naturally derived and synthetic ingredients can be part of a holistic approach to treating skin problems, may it be dry skin, acne or even both. I took it too literally and wanted to be some special urbie hippie that got clear skin by drinking coconut water and washing their face with honey like those wellness mamas like to glamorize themselves as being, even if they have never struggled with skin issues in their life. Don't fall victim like I did or stress yourself about your acne further ):Also I used to think Paula's Choice was expensive- until I got suckered out of $100 for the the Josh Rosebrook SPF 30 Nutrient Day Cream, which broke me out so bad. A lot of brands like ones on CAPbeauty are so expensive, when really all you're paying for is HYPE HYPE HYPE. Don't trust a company that thinks putting "high vibes inside" on their shipping label is cool.
