[Acne] benzoyl peroxide 2.5% isn't available in my country. What do i do?

I looked for 2.5% benzoyl peroxide topical cream, but my pharmacist said that in Italy they only sell 5% and 10%. After a successful patch test, I tried it on my face and i have mild side effects, like slight but persistent burning sensation on my face and peeling/drying of the skin. I tried some moisturizing creams i had available at home but they didn't work (maybe there's alcohol in them?) and they only seemed to make the burning sensation more intense, although I had no skin peeling. What moisturizer should I try out? Should I avoid using bp altogether? I have mild/moderate acne. Thank you for your help.
