Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello all.I wanted to share the info I got from my dermatologist in case it helps someone else that is unable to easily get to see a doctor. Background: I'm a 31 year old female with some hormonal acne and somehow I screwed up my face - possibly by over exfoliating with a combination of stress and wacky hormones I ended up with the worst acne of my life. I tried to treat it myself for a couple of months ( I'm in the medical field, I should have just gone to the derm).Anyways! Thought it might have been fungal but had a negative culture. First derm started me on doxycycline orally and clindamycin topically. It took about a month for things to start improving. I followed up and saw a different derm and these are his tidbits:He is all about the benzoyl peroxide but did not think contact therapy was enough, he wants me putting on daily 5% and leaving it on after putting on the topical clindamycin (he said the clindamycin wasn't as critical as the BP) Wanted me to wash my face with Pyrithione Zinc 1% (head and shoulders) twice a day. Didn't want me to restart differin (maybe because I am considering getting pregnant) but said he liked BP better He said the only known direct diet link to acne is with whey protein so he wanted me to cut out dairy completely or at least switch to full fat dairy. He wants me to do a weekly sulfur mask - he told me to leave it on until it's dried out and cracking then wash off I asked him about azaelic acid and glycolic acid and he didn't think they were super helpful for acneAlso continue to moisturize and use sunscreen (of course)So I was pretty excited to stop the antibiotics and just switch to some topical. These are all pretty cheap too so hopefully will make a difference for someone else suffering! Obviously would be best if you can get to a derm.Good luck!
