Beauty Tips For Body Care
This review is for two similar products that I personally use mixed together. My sunscreen trials were starting to feel like an odyssey; I've tried so many looking for one that I don't hate and can afford to apply liberally. I started posting actively again because I finally succeeded in my goal and really like this sunscreen. And given the growing pains this sub seems to be experiencing, I thought I should go ahead and attempt to make a positive contribution to content. I have never been much for brand or product loyalty because I rarely find something I really really like, and this is one of my few HG status products now. So I hope this review is helpful to someone. Link to photos of it in action at the end :)Product name:Pacifica Blood Orange Body Butter SPF 50 Pacifica Coconut Bronzing Body Butter SPF 50My skin and routine:Light tone but not the palest, tend towards dry, not particularly sensitive (so despite these being fragranced they're ok for me - as with anything ymmv), mild hormonal acne and occasional monster zit in correlation with stress - a new product gives me breakouts very occasionally. In the AM I wipe with micellar water and apply C serum (Timeless CE Ferulic) and TO Arbutin before applying sunscreen. I'm in my mid 30s and live in a sunny climate close to the ocean, so care about keeping my skin safe and prefer to use reef safer sunscreens.Cost:$13.99/5oz tube at Targethttps://www.target.com/p/pacifica-body-butter-coconut-spf-50-5-fl-oz/-/A-52854382https://www.target.com/p/pacifica-body-butter-blood-orange-spf-50-5-fl-oz/-/A-52854381Product type:Inorganic/Mineral Sunscreen, SPF 50 water resistantProduct notes copied straight from Pacifica site:100% Vegan and Cruelty-free Formulated without petroleum, parabens, silicones, retinyl palmitate, phthalates and chemical UV absorbers Every true beauty knows it's what's on the inside that matters UVA & UVB protection Water-resistant up to 80 minutesBalanced minerals designed to apply evenlyIngredients:Coconut w/ Bronzer: Active Ingredients Zinc Oxide 22.0% Inactive Ingredients Arachidyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Behenyl Alcohol, Bisabolol, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Caffeine, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Coco-Glucoside, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Diheptyl Succinate, Glycerin, Iron Oxides, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Methyl Dihydroabietate, Mica, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Octyldodecyl Oleate, Parfum (Natural), Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sodium Gluconate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Titanium Dioxide, Tocopherol, Water.Blood Orange: Active Ingredients Zinc Oxide 22.0% Inactive Ingredients Arachidyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Behenyl Alcohol, Bisabolol, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Caffeine, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Coco-Glucoside, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Diheptyl Succinate, Glycerin, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Methyl Dihydroabietate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Octyldodecyl Oleate, Parfum (Natural), Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sodium Gluconate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Titanium Dioxide, Tocopherol, Water. My opinion:I bought it on an impulse buy since it went up on an end cap at Target in May, and picked up the coconut one without realizing it was tinted. The tint is too dark for me personally, so I looked a little more fake tanned than I like when using it alone. So I went back and bought Blood Orange and started mixing them together to get the perfect blend for my skin, which works great! Since the active ingredient is the same 22% Zinc Oxide in both, I'm very comfortable mixing the two. I either put a squirt of each in my hand and rub together then apply, or premix in a travel squeeze bottle. The texture is pretty thick and creamy, but I think it rubs in pretty easily. It does take a little while to feel dry. They both have relatively mild scents IMO. I did hear that the pineapple one might be stronger but I have not experienced this myself. In comparison to their body butter lotions (I have the Coconut Nectar one and can barely stand to use it) I feel like these are way more mildly scented, although I do smell a little like a mai tai.Pros:It does it's job! I have worn it to the beach a few times. I have worn it on a day out on a boat, with reapplications after swimming and more frequent reapplications to my face. I wear it hiking a couple of times a week for days in the sun, I get the best results doing a good base application nude before I leave, since I always seems to miss spots applying in the wild trying to work around clothes or swimwear.1/4 tsp can actually fit on my face. It works best for me if I put it on in two layers. I have suffered no ill effects from using this sunscreen marketed as body on my face. It's actually water resistant! No burn after an hour of swimming in the ocean. I did end up with the faintest suggestion of a tan line from my swimsuit. It reapplies well without pilling up or getting too goopy, this is huge for me because I love outdoor stuff which is often full sun, and need to be able to reapply.I wear it on my face and don't feel like I need to follow with make up.Cons:Possibly not ideal for super sensitive skin, so if your skin tends that way take this review with salt.Coconut Tinted requires that you shake aggressively or you get a separated watery splurt. It is sticky at first, so requires careful reapplication in sandy conditions. Also can leave a mark on swimsuits and clothes (so far all has washed out, no stains). The longer I wait to dress the better, but not perfect.I wouldn't suggest the Blood Orange alone to anyone with a darker skin tone. If I rub it in really well the white cast is tolerable on me, but I really prefer to mix the two.Overall Rating: 4.5/5 If anyone finds a sunscreen with zero down sides, please let me know ;)Here's some pictures of the products, and various stages of application. Sorry for the cluttered counter and they're crappy phone pictures but I hope they get the idea across. https://imgur.com/a/IJ1AmAr
