[Misc] Is it wrong to want to use an OTC retinoid over tretinoin?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So a while back I saw a derm for issues regarding cc’s and skin texture (my skin has a lot of shallow scars kind of like potholes). She prescribed me micro tret 0.04% since I haven’t used tret before. Fast forward to a month later where I can’t stand to use it and want to switch to TO granactive emulsion.Micro tret has given me a bunch of problems that I’m just not happy to deal with at the moment. For example, the texture is very thick and silconey which prevents other products on top from being absorbed. I’ve also had to stop using BHA and AHA because one time I made the mistake of using it and my skin flaked off. This is the first time I’ve ever felt dryness and flakiness as my skin is normal with an oily T zone. As a reference, I ignored my derm’s instruction of using it every night and applied it once a week since this stuff is crazy potent. It also poses as a problem because I need to exfoliate quite often to keep my skin happy (usually 2-3x per week).Overall, I’m just miserable using tret and kind of don’t want to use it anymore. I know a lot of you are going to think I’m a privileged brat and that’s okay, everyone is entitled to have their opinions. I just needed to vent a bit. I’m not using the tret for anti aging purposes, I don’t really have any interest in that. All I want to do is fix my skin texture. A while back I used TO’s granactive emulsion and enjoyed using it. It plays so well under other products and never irritated my skin. I was wondering if this in any way could help with my problems or at least beef up my skin for tret so that it can tolerate it better. I just don’t think my skin can handle tret right now, but I’m also trying very hard to resist the urge of chucking the tube out the window. Any help is appreciated. I’m also interested in hearing your experiences with tret.tl;dr: looking to switch to TO granactive retinoid because my skin can’t handle tret. is this a viable option?
