It’s easy to layer and it doesn’t pill. It has a very faint generic sunscreen scent.Right out the tubeSpread out a bitAfter drydownPerformance: I’ve been using this sunscreen since….before April at some point, and it’s really been put through the ringer. Super dry winter skin, super oily summer skin, irritated skin from various routine missteps, the whole shebang. It has consistently been amazing - it handles dry skin well, it handles oily skin well, it has never irritated my skin even when Scinic Honey AIO betrayed me. Spoiler: I really freakin love this sunscreen.Dry skin - I started using it when my skin was a hell of a lot drier, when I pretty much had an Aquaphor mask on at all times. It’s a decent light lotion for dry skin but definitely isn’t moisturizing enough on its own. Luckily it never bunched up over other moisturizer, no matter how many layers there were. Super lightweight, never heavy, and it dries down quickly and almost totally matte on dry skin (even over other moisturizer!) I’m a super big fan of this in the winter especially - it’s the perfect matte sunscreen to use over multiple moisturizing layers. On the other hand, this review from Musings of a Muse has the exact opposite conclusion - not a great sunscreen option for dry skin as it’s just too matte! I likely circumvented that potential dryness by applying it over my usual AM lotions, and my personal preference is for matte products in general. All in all, a nice, lightweight lotion that dries down fast and doesn’t leave behind a lot of shine.Oily skin - It has a bit more sheen when applied on oily skin, but not prohibitively so. It doesn’t exactly appear oily, just very Glossier. Luckily this doesn’t bunch up if mattifying powder is applied over it, so other than the initial dewy application, this did quite well! I’ve had other sunscreens slough off in places if I tried to apply powder over, so I’m quite pleased with this. Even on incredibly humid days it never feels heavy or greasy. It’s moisturizing enough to use alone - I really dig having a minimal AM routine when I can, so just cleansing and applying this is awesome. Overall, while not totally matte, this performed very well for me.I just want to say how awesome the packaging is - the pump is never hard to push, it never gets stuck, and it’s so incredibly satisfying to see a completely flat tube after using the last drop. The tube itself is that nice soft plastic (you know the kind), and it made it through various camping trips without leaking. 10/10 would decant other sunscreens into thisPros:LightweightDoesn’t bunch up on itself, doesn’t pill over moisturizer, doesn’t slough when powder is applied over itEasy to spread outMinimal sunscreen smellPackaging is fantasticGood for dry skin if you’re willing to use additional AM moisturizers; good for oily skin if you like a bit of dewiness or use a mattifying powderCons:A bit shiny on oily skinNot moisturizing enough to use on its own for dry skinSPF 30 might be a bit low for the summer for meRating: 4/5, already repurchasedIf you’ve tried CeraVe Ultra Light, what do you think of it?
