Beauty Tips For Body Care
TL;DR- After buying boxed items at retail stores, open items in-store before you leave(even if they look brand new/factory sealed plastic/surrounded by unbroken anti-theft stickers) to make sure the product inside the box is actually what it is supposed to be.Bought a packaged Eve Lom cuticle cream at TJ Maxx, but ended up with used eyeshadow because of a fraudster. It seriously looked legit- like it was brand new/factory sealed in its original box.The box itself was standard cardboard/paper material- no windows or see through packaging so I couldn't see the item itself without breaking the seals to open the product. It had the sealed cellophane/plastic packaging surrounding the box, plus another huge anti-theft security sticker surrounding that.Found out later that someone had stuck an ancient Urban Decay purple eyeshadow in one of those twist off metal tins. It was so old the logo was fading and the metal was oxidizing in some parts.Thought I was somewhat lucky since I found out within two hours of purchase, so I got off the train to take another train back... only to find out that I somehow lost my goddamn receipt.Took my L and am now shoveling Cherry Garcia in my face.I remember seeing similar news about this happening at Best Buy with games/electronics and Amazon with their DSLR box of rocks. I guess in hindsight it'd be obvious that it would happen to popular beauty items too.To end on a somewhat positive note: it was a relatively cheap lesson to learn. Luckily it wasn't an expensive item.
