[review] HiMirror Mini Update

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello! I had promised that I'd check back in and update on the Hi Mirror. I feel silly, because I honestly have not been using it much to track my skin's progress, but I will provide a review on my current thoughts.First off, I'm sure everyone here is extremely interested in the Skin Scanning and tracking function and whether it is accurate or not in indicating skin problems.I found that the skin scanning tool did seem to identify problem areas that I have noticed already. The skin's texture is then rated by percentiles for your age group. This is where I become skeptical. The percentile numbers change from scan to scan, even in the same day. It may be helpful to establish a baseline of sorts using an average of scans. But I think the percentile info is practically useless and arbitrary. What is more important is seeing a consistent pattern of improvement in overall scoring or by reviewing the photographs of the scans. HiMirror is a useful tracking tool, but no more useful than using your camera to take periodic update photos and reviewing them, IMHO.I have done a couple scans and found that if you do not have a well-lit room, you will get an error and the mirror will not accept the scan. I also had issues with positioning myself in a distance that the mirror "liked". So, I would say that to record a scan, the tool/program can be a bit finicky.I believe one of the best features of the HiMirror is actually the skin care product database and tracking; you can search, scan the barcode of your products, and find info on whether your product is likely to cause allergic or irritated skin reactions. You can also tie your products to your current regimen and create scans that pair with your product usage, thus allowing you to see if certain products are making an actual improvement in your skin's health.I honestly have not used the tracking features enough to report on long term use. I guess I hate tracking and a fancy smart mirror did nothing to encourage me. If you find it difficult to track without the HiMirror, you may not be any better off with one. However, I have been using the mirror's Spotify when I get ready and am doing my makeup, which makes things fun. The mirror lighting is also fantastic! You can choose from several different ambiances to match your make up for the occasion! My makeup did look beautiful after using the mirror's lighting. So, mostly I paid a decent chunk of money to end up using the mirror more as a media tool for YouTube, Spotify, and Alexa. Heh.Another thing I noticed is that due to the HiMirror 's exceptional glass quality and large surface area (some other reviews have complained about the tint to the mirror's glass, though), I have been afraid to look at my skin that closely on a daily basis. Without my glasses, I can see much too nearsighted and it's horrifying to see the scarring and imperfections so close up.Overall, it's a very fun and exciting beauty tool and I think it's not so expensive that it would be a waste for the absolute beauty and skincare junkie. But, depending on who you are, it might just sit there more often than not.I think you probably get back in the effort you put into it, but it may not be any more incentive for the "too busy" or "too lazy" of us, lol.Last thing: My biggest gripe is that the Android app is useless and I have not been able to to adequately pair my mirror to my phone's HiMirror app. They REALLY need to fix this. HiMirror is fine as a standalone for me, but I would love to be able to to sync with a phone tracking feature!Overall, the HiMirror may be worth it to the skincare junkie person who wants to add this to their skincare arsenal. It probably does really help if you are already a consistent tracker. If not, it will be an aesthetically pretty and, yet large tool of potential usefulness. You don't NEED it, but it's a fun, albeit slightly spendy gadget. Now, I don't own their compatible skin scanning tool that can also be used with the HiMirror. That possibly would change my overall opinion, because it may improve the ease and time involved in the tracking process.I hope this adds something helpful. I'm sorry that I can't report back with more detailed tracking info. However, the fact that I've found it an inconvenience to track may be telling...
