[Acne] How I healed my closed comedones, mild fungal acne and bumps on jaw

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Don't panic, there is light at the end of the tunnel! I've waited until my skin has stayed routinely clear before I posted this to make sure my advice is solid. I relied on Reddit a lot for help and support when my skin was at its worst, so I want to pay it forward. I apologise for not having any photos, I was too triggered to document it.Here we go:Skin in Nov 18:Skin coloured bumps on my forehead, down both sides of my jaw and chin, and a few on my cheeks. My skin had been out of sorts for a while, but the bumps were getting worse and worse. An increase in pimples, but mostly bumps which couldn't be extracted. I was using Garner Micellar water, Ren Evercalm Cleansing Gel and then using hemp seed oil as a moisturiser. The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% once per week and one horrible experience with The Ordinary's Salicylic Acid which burned my skin.Fungal Acne?:While Googling the crap out of my symptoms, I came across Pityrosporum folliculitis (fungal acne) which sounded like it could be the culprit. I used a 1% Clotrimazole on the most red and bumpy patch on my chin and it reduced in size and crusted over overnight. I couldn't believe it. So I began smothering my forehead, chin and jaw in it ready to be bump free. However, I was disappointed when I saw no improvement. If anything, my skin was so dull. Not wanting to give up, I bought Nizoral and Head & Shoulders to use as masks, both of which made my skin angry, bumpy and so so dry.So it seemed that only one patch was fungal - I now strongly suspect it was the incorrect use of hemp seed oil that caused it. (The oil would sit on my skin and not be washed off, causing the perfect hot and moist breeding ground for fungal nastiness). How I tackled the bumps:Knowing they weren't fungal, I had a better idea of how to treat these bumps, some of which were now cystic, and were ruining my self confidence. I switched all my skin care to simple and gentle brands such as Avene, Bioderma and La Roche Posay. I started treating my skin like a new born baby and stopped wearing make up.Then I had the breakthrough moment! My change in skincare meant the rest of my face looked amazing, but the troubled parts stayed the same. I was close to giving up and then it hit me to look at my hair products. I was using OGX Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner which I naively thought didn't have coconut oil in. Holy crap, it was full of it. I finally found my culprit. I realised the bumps were exactly where the product would run down my face in the shower. As if I didn't realise sooner!!The saviour product:Knowing it was congestion on a huge scale. I went straight out and bought Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Extreme Night Pads and used them that evening. The next day I had a huge purge. HUGE. And this continued as I used them twice sometimes three times per week. I would cover the pimples in Eucerin Aquaphor and let them heal without extracting until the very moment when they were ready. La Roche Posay's Cicaplast Baume was amazing for healing the pimples. It all got a whole lot worse with every bump coming to a head. It was hard to be ok during that time, but I was grateful to have found a way to heal. Those who deal with persistent acne, you have my upmost respect and love. How long to heal:It took 9 weeks to heal from the moment I took out the evil shampoo and conditioner, but all in all, it was about 4 months of struggle. When the bumps had gone, I started using lots of thin layers of hydration, vitamin C and suncreen, and, the TOTAL love of my life, The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid in Squalane 2%. These have reduced my hyperpigmentation and have finally given me my dream skin. Now that's something I never want to experience again!List of products I Swear By / Current Routine:Oil cleanse with Hemp Seed Oil (cold pressed unrefined, all that jazz).
