[PSA] The Ordinary's Squalane Cleanser costs more per oz than ones from brands like First Aid Beauty, and that should concern us.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
The new Squalane Cleanser from TO is priced at $7.90 for a 1.7oz tube. That breaks down to $4.64/oz.For comparison, First Aid Beauty's Face Cleanser is priced at $21 for a 5oz tube or $32 for an 8oz tube. That's $4.25/oz and $4/oz respectively. For fans of TO, this should be concerning. It shows a shift in pricing policies away from the commitment to provide *affordable*, no BS skincare. It's something that I think many of us have expected to see happen since Estee Lauder became involved with TO. This is how companies test the water to see if they can raise prices: they make a minor change in a way they think most people will not notice, such decreasing the amount of a product while not changing the price (so that the product appears unchanged to the average consumer, but in actuality now costs far more than before). If people are fine with it (or don't notice), they'll extend the price increases out across the brand. The new cleanser they're offering seems to be their way of testing the water for a pricing shift. Nobody buys their cleansers in 1.7oz tubes--that's smaller than most travel sizes... and I think this is indicative of the direction Estee Lauder has begun to take TO.When you buy products pay attention to what you're paying per oz. Pricing changes only happen if there are enough people ok with them (or not noticing them). It's important for TO's fanbase to call this out, and continually emphasize that we are loyal to TO *because* of their low prices. Huge pricing changes don't happen overnight, they're introduced gradually, and it's up to consumers to keep an eye out for them.
