Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, SCA! I was one of the people who was very excited to see The Ordinary come out with a cleanser, especially one advertised for makeup removal. I've had it about a week now, and I wanted to give some first impression thoughts in case anyone is curious about it. I have acne-prone, combination skin (oily T, very dry cheeks). At this time, I've used the cleanser daily for 5 days.Texture: Very light creamFeeling on the skin: Not as much slip as I expected, it kind of feels like rubbing in my hydrating cleanser, but it did eventually turn into an oil.Grits: NoEyes stinging: YesSmell: Definitely has a smell, but not strong. I don't smell it once I've rinsed.Breakout: None for meApplication: I rub a quarter-sized amount between my hands and then apply on my face. For full makeup days, I use 2 quarters.Effectiveness: I've tried it on full face makeup days that include waterproof mascara and eyeliner and on no makeup days. It did eventually get my eye makeup off, but it involved a lot more rubbing and work than my usual balm cleanser. I also think that because I had to rub it in so much, some of it got in my eyes. As for my foundation, it did not remove it completely. On days I just used water and sebum resistant sunscreen + tinted mattifying powder, I could see on my white towels that my powder was not completely removed from the cleanser alone. However, I do always double cleanse. When followed up with my Equate hydrating cleanser, my face was fully cleansed.Would I repurchase?: It's a no from me. The price per oz is more than my usual balm cleanser that works 100x better, so I'll be sticking with that one. Removing all my makeup is really important to me to help prevent breakouts, so I want to not be stressed over that.Who might it be good for?: I believe this cleanser would be good for people with dry skin that enjoy squalane in their ingredient list. I also think it would be good for people who just wear sunscreen most days, particularly sunscreen that maybe is not water or sebum proof. Those are my first impressions on the cleanser. I'm glad I was able to try it, but I will not be repurchasing. It was just okay for me, but ultimately too much work for removing my makeup. There's a lot of wonderful oil and balm cleansers for removing makeup and sunscreen, so I'm happy to stick with those instead. I hope I was able to answer most of the common questions, but let me know if there's something missing!Album photos to show cleanser: https://imgur.com/a/X572ytYMy usual PM routine:1st cleanser: Heimish All Clean Cleansing Balm2nd cleanser: Equate hydrating cleanserHydrating toner: Hada Labo Premium lotionEssence: COSRX Snail EssenceMoisturizer: TO Natural Moisturizing Factors + 3-5 drops of hemi-squalane oilTreatments as needed:Sulfur lotion (I get this from a pharmacy in Colombia): 3x a weekTO 30% AHA + 2% BHA peel mask: 1x every week or every other weekWash off benzoyl peroxide mask: 1x a week
