Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm a 25 year old guy who's been going to the gym for the past 3 years, having acne since about age 14. My family has awful acne genetics, and it seems like nothing works on any of us. I'm desperate and getting to the point where I think I'm going to just take Accutane but I want to see if there's anything I'm missing.SO here's everything I've been trying, without much luck.Cleansers have always been either Neutrogena facial cleanser or Vanicream gentle cleanser. I wash my face at night, or after the gym obviously. Afterwards I have tried simply washing my face and using Stridex red pads after my skin is dry, these seem to do absolutely nothing. I then tried using Curology (clindamycin, azelaic acid, & zinc pyrithione) as an active which cleared my acne entirely for about 2 months, and then it came back and for some reason curology doesn't do anything anymore. I truly thought I had found the secret but my skin developed a resistance or something. After curology, I used Nizoral shampoo on my face) to try and combat Pityrosporum Folliculitis. This seemed to help a little, but dried my skin out and basically ended up harming it more than anything. Speaking of moisture, I usually slather on CeraVe PM, or CeraVe cream in a tub which I researched to be safe for fungal acne. My skin would be moisturized, but it wouldn't stop acne.I tried do an oil cleansing routine with Jojoba oil, mineral oil, and finally MCT oil. All 3 seemed to make my face smooth and help with texture, but the acne persisted throughout. This really helped with my sebaceous filaments which are very bad on my nose though.Throughout everything, I've been supplementing zinc, vitamin a, vitamin d, fish oil, and probiotics. No changes unfortunately. Finally bit the bullet and went to see a derm, after informing about everything he prescribed AMOXICILLIN. I couldn't believe it, but none the less I took it. No changes and it destroyed my gut flora. Tried to get in to see another one and it was a 4 month wait so I'm fairly fed up with dermatologists at the moment.I just don't even know where to go other than accutane...and the worst part is my job involves being on a camera nearly every day. I'm getting to be so sick of waking up and hating my skin and knowing I have to present myself to the public. I have body acne as well, which could be from sweating at the gym. Is there anything I should try before biting the bullet and buying some accutane or is it just going to be filled with hundreds of dollars of more trial and error? The worst part, is everything good for the gym (increasing my testosterone through my diet and lifting, etc) is HORRIBLE for acne. It seems like a scale where I either sacrifice my fitness or my skin.
