to look on the inside, more than my outside.that I’m not defined by the acne that plagues my skin; any pore, SF (blackheads) that surrounds the T-zone of my face, the scars left behind by metaphorical dirty uncles that weren’t invited to the party. My skin is the largest organ that I own. Thus, I must cherish every part of it, although it can be quite the mean girl or f* boy somedays. There’s no take-backs or exchanges. What is mine is mine, and I have to take care of myself.up-close mirrors are the enemy. My reflection isn’t.to fight against the voices in my head that say everyone is staring at the zit on my cheek or judging the texture of my skin. Nobody gives a crap. They’re all too busy staring into their phones and posting all the “good things” on social media to notice. Therefore, their opinions don’t matter.even though society makes you feel ugly externally, whatever skin condition you are experiencing isn’t on your heart; hence, making it beautiful. I’m so sorry that it is hurting now, but know that it is still beating.I could have and use all the products in the world, yet, I must ask myself: Will they bring me the same joy as that person of whom I love most? The pastime that I am passionate about and desire to make a future with? No. All that those products do is drain my mental state and my bank account. Material items aren’t the cure or the source of happiness and a peaceful mindset and perspective. All that is needed is a 1-4 items - cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen and a chemical exfoliate, not a 5739201 that will only bring me backward.the reality of photoshop. Nobody has perfect skin. Just like we all have a story, we all have skin and it sometimes is a battleground too. But that doesn’t make us victims of circumstance. Who we are is human.Thank you SCA for teaching me the process of loving myself again, instead of fixing who I am to be part of the mold.
