[Acne] The airline lost my luggage and it saved my skin

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I had this eye-opening experience a few weeks ago that I just need to share with you. I have struggled with acne since I was 13 years old and it feels like I have tried every treatment under the sun: birth control, differin, antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, acids, peelings, a 10-step asian beauty routine, diets, teas and one very painful course of accutane to just name a few. Birth control and the accutane helped while I was on it, but once I went off it, the acne came back fast. I spent an insane amount of money on products and visits to the dermatologist and it got me absolutely nowhere. At 30 years old, my skin was a weird mix of oily and really dry with a lot of whiteheads and a few cysts strewn in between. Then, the airline lost my luggage and with it all the skincare products I had planned on bringing with me for the trip. For a few days, the only products I had with me were a small bottle of CeraVe’s hydrating facial cleanser and the Origins drink up 10 minute hydrating mask. Both products were new to me. I had bought the cleanser because it was small and fit in my carry-on and the mask I had impulse-bought at the airport a few hours before. Since I was super tired and nowhere near a decent sized store, I decided to just deal with my limited selection by taking off my makeup with the cleanser and moisturizing with the mask. I remember almost crying and being sure that I would wake up looking like a plague victim. However, over the course of the next few days, my face went from a warzone to absolutely glowing. No new pimples had formed and the ones I had were healing quickly.I have now kept up this incredibly simple routine for the past month and I’m almost acne free. I still get some very small hormonal breakouts, but overall I can’t believe how healthy my skin looks. I haven’t even switched out the mask for a proper moisturizer because it works so well. All these years I was absolutely destroying my skin with harsh ingredients in my desperate attempt to find something that worked for me. I have since learned that there is something called a moisture barrier and it seems like cutting out the bazillion products and focusing on pure hydration did the trick for me.On a similar note, I have also struggled with keratosis pilaris on my upper arms, which I tried to combat with, you guessed it, more products. Especially peelings, I loved the peelings. I have since cut out everything and the only thing that touches my arms is water. Or course, the symptoms have almost completely disappeared.I feel super stupid now, having wasted all that time and money. But better late than never right? I hope this helps someone else on their journey and please excuse my English, it’s not my native language.
