[acne] I quit skincare and my acne quit

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I had a thought: maybe those people with perfect skin, who eat junk and sleep in makeup, are onto something? Ha: Note: I have dry, inflamed, rosacea & eczema prone skin. No significant acne problem as a child/teen, but since 20yrs i consistently had cystic acne all over my forehead, chin, and chest/back. Also closed comedones that made my skin texture subtly bumpy:I’ve been addicted to skincare, and a lurker of this reddit for years. I’ve tried everything, spent too much on products and appointments, tried all the diet changes & supplements. I was extremely hygienic, big morning and night routines, cleaning my pillowcase every day, etc etcThen after a horrible breakout ( & a depressive episode) I threw out all my products and STOPPED ALL skincare. No washing my face, no showering. Let myself wallow in my own filth basically. (Yikes)A week in and all my inflammation was gone. No more red patches or new cysts. No inclination to pick. No clogged pores. Even my oily scalp & dandruff was improving. Everything leveled out.My skin was still flakey and dry at first so I coated my face in a thick coat of vaseline every night. (Dermatologist hate her... but it’s a HOLY GRAIL) I let my natural oils return & my skin heal itself. That was months ago and I have yet to reintroduce products or wash my face routinely. I use micellar water to remove makeup but that’s it. Now, I only get very mild hormonal breakouts once a month, but otherwise, MY ACNE IS CURED. My skin is no longer a major insecurity. My makeup goes on smooth for the first time in years.———10/10 would recommend others to take a break from your routine, and any type of physical skin stress, for at least a week or two. FOR SCIENCE...No products needed is the goal with acne, right?
