Beauty Tips For Body Care
hi everyone,i know this question has probably been asked before. i searched and only found like 1 post though - and there weren't many comments - so pls don't get mad. basically, i (21F) started wearing daily SPF this year (when i was 20/21). i feel that i should've started daily SPF sooner - but then again i was inside like the entire day in high school. so then i probably should've for sure started daily when i went to college at least (age ~18-19). my mom kind of picks on me for wearing daily SPF. she thinks i have obsessive issues and the other day she pointed out the white cast and made me feel really stupid. she said that my face had been looking weird lately and that my current routine/sunscreen (and other products) just wasn't working for me. i found this to be incredibly rude as i explained to her that i just have to find a sunscreen that works well for me. it also really bothered me because i recently had to quit wearing eye makeup due to an eyelid problem (after wearing it for 8 years) - and i have been trying to get comfortable with my new appearance - very difficult. so of course i have gotten completely into skincare - sunscreen of course - and actually taking care of my skin - not just covering it with makeup. it bugs me because i know how important daily sunscreen is for skin health (esp. since i found out recently that i have rosacea) and she acts like i just have issues. she swears that the SPF in her foundation is enough - although i have told her that it is not enough. she also has done quite a lot of tanning in her time (as a teen and young adult). the thing is my mom is 47 - so people she knows always worshipped the sun (including her mom who used tanning beds for years); so I think she just doesn’t take it as seriously as I do.my sister thinks i'm dumb for wearing daily SPF too. it honestly drives me insane. because they clearly haven't educated themselves on sunscreen and its importance. if they would read about it like i do - they would see how important it is. honestly, the fact that a lot of how well i age depends on how much i care for my skin has me following a pretty legit regimen (main thing is sunscreen daily though). of course also since i have rosacea - and apparently the blood vessels in my skin are fragile - wearing sunscreen is important. i really never, ever knew that wearing sunscreen daily (even when just going to work or running errands) was necessary until i joined this subreddit (the Internet is powerful guys). and i always hated sunscreen before (americans sunscreens = greasy and terrible).so how many people do you know in real life who actually apply sunscreen daily? because my mom seems to think that very few people actually apply sunscreen daily. maybe it's just a lot of people on this subreddit who have educated themselves that wear a daily sunscreen (and not the general population).skincare and sunscreen research has become such a hobby for me - i read about it a lot. i enjoy trying new sunscreens and such. my mom constantly says it's all unnecessary to keep buying - but i tell her i have to find my HG sunscreen... (just tried asian sunscreens and wow i am literally in love - they are so great that i question how well they are protecting me from the sun lol)anyway, this might have been a mini rant. but i am genuinely curious - what age did you start wearing daily SPF? and do you know people IRL (your family, friends, etc.) who also wear daily sunscreen?any comments appreciated, thanks :)
